Full-Time Automotive Mechanic / Equipment Repair Technician II
Job Description
- Perform semi-skilled and skilled work on automotive systems; preventive maintenance; brakes; steering; tires and tubes; wheels, rims, and hubs; transmission (Auto); charging system, cranking system; ignition system; lighting system; cooling system; exhaust system; fuel system; power unit, hydraulics; air conditioning; instruments & gauges; and air intake systems.
- Service, inspect, repair, rebuild, and diagnose mechanical systems for gasoline, diesel, and alternative-powered engines/equipment.
- Prepare employment and equipment repair paperwork.
- A complete set of mechanic tools.
- Experience performing preventive maintenance on 1+ of the following: light, medium, heavy-duty trucks, or heavy equipment.
- Diagnostics experience on basic electrical systems and proper wiring repairs.
- Basic hydraulic system repair experience including component replacement and hoses.
- Troubleshooting and repair experience on 1+ of the following: light, medium, heavy duty, or farm equipment brake components.
- Knowledge of diagnostic software, tools, and equipment for trucks and heavy equipment.
- Ability to repair and maintain automotive and heavy equipment and diagnose problems using diagnostic equipment,
- Ability to understand written and verbal instructions.
- Strength and agility to move parts and material necessary to repair and maintain equipment.
- Ability to read schematics, diagrams, and sketches.
- Ability to read maps and identify components (engine, air compressor, differential, etc.).
- Can safely operate equipment for testing purposes.
- Ability to work in an indoor and outdoor environment.
- Able to work in emergency situations and inclement weather.
- A Class A Commercial Driver’s License with Tanker (N) Endorsement. (Note: If you don’t have this you can get it through on-the-job training within 360 days of hire.)
- Safety toe footwear is required.
- We may require current certification by the EPA as a Type I, II, III, or Universal Technician.
- We will conduct an pre-employment drug test and check with your employers over the past 2 years about controlled substance and alcohol testing.
- High School/GED diploma, and
- 2+ years of relevant experience, or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
