Full-Time Automotive Mechanic / Equipment Repair Technician I – ENTRY LEVEL!
Job Description
- Perform skilled mechanic work involving the servicing and repair of mechanical systems of gas/diesel powered automotive and heavy equipment.
- Perform basic mechanic work, including preventive maintenance and repairs of tires, and tubes, wheels & rims, cranking systems, lighting systems, cooling systems, fuel systems, and hydraulic systems.
- Prepare paperwork essential to employment and equipment repair.
- Operate a fuel truck.
- A complete set of mechanic tools.
- Commercial Driver’s License Class “A” with Tanker (N) endorsement. (Note: Still apply even if you don’t have this. You can get it through our on-the-job training within 360 days of hire).
- Tire repair and replacement experience.
- Experience performing preventive maintenance on 1+ of the following: light, medium, heavy-duty trucks, and heavy equipment.
- Skills using 2+ tools and pieces of equipment: wrenches, sockets, battery charger, hydraulic jacks, loaders, forklifts, automotive/truck lifts, fuel service trucks, tire changers, tire balancers, welders, cutting torches, diagnostic equipment, computers, tire jacks, tire balance machines, pneumatic wrenches, diagnostic gauges, electronic testers, air impact wrenches, air compressors, air guns, torque wrenches.
- Steel toe safety shoes.
- Ability to repair and maintain automotive/heavy equipment and diagnose problems using basic diagnostic equipment.
- You can understand written and verbal instructions.
- Agility to move parts and materials to repair and maintain equipment.
- Ability to safely operate equipment for testing purposes.
- You can work in indoor and outdoor environments.
- A commitment to a safe working environment by leading by example.
- Ability to read and interpret Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) manuals, schematics, diagrams, and sketches.
- Strength to move relatively heavy objects and perform heavy lifting.
- Ability to safely operate a state vehicle.
- We will conduct a pre-employment drug test and a background check for your previous employers over the past 2 years about controlled substances/alcohol testing.
- We may require EPA certification as a Type I, II, III, or Universal technician.
- You will be expected to work in emergency situations and bad weather.
- High School/GED diploma, or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
