The Challenge
We are looking for 2 skilled mechanics to join our Macon County Equipment team.
In this role, you will:
    • Perform semi-skilled small engine, automotive, and heavy equipment repair and maintenance.
    • Service, inspect, repair, rebuild, and diagnose diverse mechanical systems for gasoline, diesel, and alternative-powered engines/equipment.
    • Perform moderately-complex mechanical systems analysis using advanced diagnostic instruments and software.
    • Conduct parts/systems failure analysis.
    • Routinely determine materials, techniques, and tools to accomplish work assignments varying in complexity depending on the type of mechanical system and ancillary components/equipment.
    • Perform recurring and related tasks and repairs, such as inspecting and replacing brake pads and shoes, replacing regulators, alternators and belts, and fitting/repairing standard aftermarket upgrades and equipment, preventative maintenance, tires and tubes, wheels & rims, cranking systems, lighting systems, cooling systems and hydraulic systems.
 
What You Bring
    • A complete set of mechanics tools.
    • Experience repairing and replacing tires.
    • Experience performing preventive maintenance on 1+ of the following: light, medium, heavy-duty trucks, and/or heavy equipment.
    • Skills using 2+ tools and pieces of equipment used in the equipment shop – such as wrenches, sockets, battery chargers, hydraulic jacks, loaders, forklifts, automotive/truck lifts, fuel service trucks, tire changers, tire balancer, welders, cutting torches, diagnostic equipment, computers, tire jacks, tire balance machines, pneumatic wrenches, diagnostic gauges, electronic testers, air impact wrenches, air compressors, air guns, and/or torque wrenches.
    • Class A Commercial Driver’s License with Tanker (N) endorsement. (Note: Still apply if you don’t have it.  You can get it through our on-the-job training within 360 days of hire.)
    • Ability to safely operate equipment for testing purposes.
    • Ability to work indoors and outdoors.
    • Strength to perform heavy lifting.
    • Ability to safely operate State vehicle.
    • Safety toe shoes.
 
Notes
    • We will conduct a pre-employment drug test and a background check for your previous employers over the past 2 years about controlled substances/alcohol testing.
    • We may require EPA certification as a Type I, II, III, or Universal technician.
    • This role requires work during bad weather, such as snow and/or ice, tornadoes, hurricanes, etc., that may lead to working extended daily hours, weekends, and holidays.
 
Education & Experience
    • High School/GED diploma, or
    • An equivalent combination of education and experience.
