Summary:
Automation Engineer needed to provide technical support to production, support automation projects, and execute capital projects. This position will support and interact with fabrication, coating, and assembly operations.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Create and edit PLC, PMC, and TP programs
- Support electrical and PLC, PMC, and TP program related problems
- Design and modify electrical schematics for special machine modifications
- Design, build, create drawings for and assemble automation solutions and equipment
- Project management from concept to production
- Support production and assembly with building, wiring and testing of custom machines and equipment
- Assist with troubleshooting PLC, PMC, TP and electrical issues
- Develop and test optional tooling for work holding, fixturing, and material presentation
- Assist with basic, onsite and remote, support to production technicians
- Execute, control, and oversee modifications to control systems.
- Prepare diagrams and control panel layouts.
- Procure parts and subcontractors.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Industrial Engineering.
- 5+ years of Manufacturing Engineering experience.
- Experience with Microsoft office, AutoCAD, and SolidWorks.
- Experience and understanding of MRP systems a plus, specifically SAP.
- Skilled in AutoCad, SolidWorks, RS Logix, EPlan
- Experience programming Fanuc Robotics
- Experience with through-put optimization, motion program improvements
- Experience with PFMEA, process mapping, logic diagrams
- Extensive knowledge of PLC’s, PMC, and TP programs, controls, sensors, safety circuits, vision systems
- Understanding of configuring I/O, Digital I/O, robot I/O, position registers, and data registers
- Strong Mechanical aptitude
- Working Knowledge of machine design, industrial robot controls, and PLC’s is required, as well as, direct experience with facility layout, process design, process mapping, and PFMEA.
- The candidate should have basic knowledge of assembly and packaging processes.
- Ability to communicate at all levels from the shop floor to Executive level in order to justify and implement automation strategies.
- Effective problem solver, with ability to utilize analytical techniques for issue resolution.
- Ability to develop creative automation solutions that will result in a technological edge over competition.
- Ability to work well under compressed time constraints
- Hands on approach to problem resolution
Ability to use basic hand tools, hand held power tools, and measuring tool
