Why we need you:
CSH is seeking an enthusiastic, results-oriented individual who has a passion for the CSH mission and possesses the leadership and management skills necessary to advance our work. The Federal TA team provides individualized technical assistance to communities and providers and through several national federal TA contracts with Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and Health and Human Services (HHS). Internally, we collaborate closely with executive staff, national offices and regional teams. CSH is seeking to fill a full-time junior level position located in a CSH office (when offices reopen) preferably in New York City or Chicago. Your focus is the financial and programmatic administration of our federal technical assistance awards and support of the CSH project managers, Associate Director, and Director.
What you will do:
Under the direction of the Federal TA team Director and CSH project managers, you will provide support in two main categories – team operations and special projects:
Federal TA Team Operations
- Support the Director in contract management including monthly invoicing contracts, processing vendor and subcontractor paper work and payments, providing reports to project managers, maintaining client information, tracking budget to actual on projects, providing project updates to staff, managing project close out, and collaborating with the Finance team.
- Manage time and deliverables to budget, be a strong and contentious steward of CSH resources. Works closely with finance to ensure monthly reporting, contracting and invoicing are completed accurately and on time.
- Manage assigned activities and goals. Actively identify problems and obstacles with supervisors. Offer ideas for solutions for supervisor’s consideration.
- Coordinate HUD work plan development and submission with Director and project managers.
- Coordinate classroom and online learning including trainings, webinars, and conference calls.
- Manage our use of HUD’s Technical Assistance Portal and Disaster Recovery Grant Reporting databases and internal reporting requirements.
- Participate in all team activities including staff meetings, work planning, business development
- Support projects, contributes to projects as assigned, helps manage time and budget and supports team leaders or project managers in advancing their portfolio. May include invoicing, contract management, financial reconciliation and collaborating with finance.
Program and Special Projects
- Participate on and contribute to project teams as assigned. Tasks may include the coordination of and participation in technical assistance visits; drafting reports, policy guidance, and other documents and resources; and supporting training design, development, delivery, and evaluation
- Support project managers on current projects including developing written products such as memos, PowerPoints, or documents; creating webinars; and technical assistance engagements delivering direct TA in communities.
- Support the provision of technical assistance, data collection and reporting, and provide internal expertise and support/training on financial, technology and core business systems

- High school degree or equivalent, or any combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.

- Previous project management experience with demonstrated leadership and organizational skills and the ability to manage to deliverables, budget and deadlines.
- Ability to work well independently and within a multi-disciplinary team environment, and working cooperatively to meet internal and external requests.
- Proven ability to work with diverse colleagues and external audiences, specifically racially, ethnically, and socially diverse partners in an organized and customer-service orientated approach.
- Ability to communicate clearly and simply, coupled with a strong creative sensibility and ability to think strategically.
- An understanding of the concepts of institutional and structural racism and bias and their impact on underserved and underrepresented communities;
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive materials and information.
- Command and demonstrated proficiency using Windows-based applications and other technology solutions.
- Willing and able to travel when pandemic restrictions are lifted. Travel schedule will vary based on assignments.
