We are currently hiring for the position of:
ASSOCIATE INDUSTRY PROGRAMMER
The Associate Industry Programmer will collaborate with a small programming team to deliver world class programming for international and Canadian filmmakers and industry professionals. Working with colleagues and external partners, the position plays a vital role in researching, planning and executing a number of Industry Initiatives. They will provide onsite support at TIFF Industry Conference.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Shall include but not be limited to:
- Conduct research on relevant panel topics to be programmed at the Conference and Labs
- Collaborate with internal teams, presenting partners and sponsors to identify relevant guest speakers for Conference, Labs and other industry events
- Liaise with invited speakers and internal teams to coordinate schedules, guest travel and accommodation logistics
- Draft copy for press releases, session descriptions, project books and announcements for Conference, Labs and other Industry activities
- Provide the events and tech teams with schedules and tech requirements for sessions
- Provide consistent and accurate reporting to the guest and to internal TIFF departments when required
- Responsible for creating detailed and comprehensive database records for Industry Conference
- Update Industry Conference websites with panel descriptions as well as biographies for guest speakers
- Maintain confidentiality of guest information and integrity of programming
- Oversee cost reports – in conjunction with Producer
- Onsite hosting at the Conference, including introducing sessions and conducting Q&A’s if needed
- Collaborating with Industry team on expanding and delivering meaningful diversity and inclusion initiatives
- Provide a detailed post mortem and recommendations on the critical path
- Other programming and coordination tasks and duties as assigned
JOB GRADE & RATE OF PAY
- Job Grade 2
- $22.16 / Hourly
TARGET CONTRACT DATES:
- June 13 – September 16, 2022
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the Canadian or international film industries
- Intermediate knowledge of both Canadian and international cinema and film industries considered an asset
- Strong knowledge of Canadian and international film landscapes with a working knowledge of trends, emerging and established filmmakers, and key players
- Experience working for a film festival or large scale event an asset
- Strong communication, customer service, interpersonal and organizational skills
- Excellent phone manner and written communication skills, as well as a knack for relationship building
- Enthusiastic, ambitious, self-motivated, and open to working in a team environment
- Strong organizational and administrative skills with extreme attention to detail, diligent record-keeping and the ability to effectively prioritize tasks
- Enjoys fast-paced, multi-tasking work environment, with a willingness to adapt to shifting priorities and circumstances
- Mature personal judgment, exhibiting a high level of professionalism and diplomacy, and ability to handle confidential information
- Able to handle difficult situations and people with a positive, problem-solving attitude
- Ability to both work independently and in a team environment
- Adaptable to a flexible work schedule including some evenings and weekends to meet deadlines, as well as during Festival
- Additional language(s) an asset
- This position requires being in office on a regular basis, aligning with our Flexible Work from Home Policy.
