Duties and Responsibilities
The individual filling this position is expected to play a positive role in helping Northwest Florida State College (NWFSC) change as necessary to effectively carry out its mission.
- Serve as the College’s point of contact for Individual with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), American Disabilities Act (ADA) and sections 504 and 508 of the Rehabilitation Act required for faculty, staff, and students.
- Perform intake assessments of students with disabilities including collecting and reviewing disability documents. Analyze all disability documentation to determine what accommodations and services may be provided to students.
- Provide notification of academic accommodations for students that include but are not limited to testing accommodations, note-taking, use of alternative formats for print and multimedia, and use of assistive technologies.
- Research and preview assistive technology programs for potential purchase to include software, hardware, and equipment.
- Provide support to students in resolving disability-related issues that may be barriers to academic success.
- Keep up-to-date records on all students requesting accommodation and maintain case files and confidential student records in accordance with Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
- Communicate with faculty, staff, and students to build awareness about disability topics, reasonable accommodations, and services offered.
- Coordinate accommodation services with dual enrollment high school students and facilitate the transition of students with disabilities to the college environment.
- Follow-up on student progress related to accommodations and resolve sensitive or escalated issues involving students working with the Accommodation Resource Center (ARC).
- Collect data to measure the success and alignment of disability programs with departmental and institutional strategic plans and goals.
- Work closely with the Director in overseeing the current daily operations of testing at all NWFSC campus locations.
- Maintain current knowledge of tests administered at all centers, such as PERT, HESI, TABE, DSST, CLEP, Pearson VUE, and FAA testing, as well as any other testing programs that the College participates in
- Administer, proctor, score, and transmit results of all tests administered by the Testing Center.
- Provide timely feedback to the Supervisor concerning employee performance for coaching and retraining purposes.
- Refer candidates to academic intervention as needed.
- As a part of the college’s risk management tool annual mandatory compliance training is required.
- Perform other job duties as assigned.

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree
- Five to seven years of related experience.
- Working knowledge of the Individual with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), American Disabilities Act (ADA) and sections 504 and 508 of the Rehabilitation Act.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in compliance with FERPA, HIPPA, and any other appropriate laws.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- Demonstrated excellence in written and oral communication.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s Degree
- Experience with Banner System.
- Experience with K-12 and/or postsecondary education student needs and experiences.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities.
