Full-Time Associate Director for Outreach and Prevention – Counseling and Psychological Services
Job Description
The Position:
Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) at UCSC is expanding its team with the development of a new position – the Associate Director for Outreach and Prevention. This position will provide leadership for the development and implementation of outreach and prevention programs to address the mental health needs of the undergraduate and graduate students of UC Santa Cruz. The Associate Director will work both internally with CAPS leadership and with campus partners (Ethnic Resource Centers, Disability Resource Center, Slug Support, and other key campus partners) for collaborative outreach and prevention programming. The Associate Director will also provide oversight of outreach requests and assignment of outreach activities to other staff as needed. The Associate Director will also be providing direct clinical and prevention/ outreach services to UCSC students.
Characteristics of the Successful Candidate:
We are seeking transformational leaders who are committed to advancing mental health access and equity for college students and who demonstrate strong clinical, trauma response, and crisis management skills. Ideal candidates will demonstrate experience working with a high volume and acuity of student cases, involving those with complex mental health needs. Successful candidates will possess experience developing and implementing prevention and outreach programs to diverse client populations. We are seeking candidates who demonstrate knowledge of, commitment to and experience working with members of African, Black & Caribbean; Asian, Asian American & Pacific Islander; Chicanx/Latinx; Native/Indigenous; South West Asian & North African; Disabled/Neuro Diverse; Trans & Non-Binary; Queer; Undocumented and other historically marginalized or underrepresented communities. Successful candidates will demonstrate measurable experience employing practices/praxis grounded in intersectional approaches and understandings of identity and will possess knowledge of and insight about different religious traditions that intersect with many of the identities and communities listed above.
