Full-Time Associate Director, Communications

Job Description

Position Overview

The Associate Director, Communications will partner with the Senior Director, Communications in executing strategies that support and advance our New Leaders brand and communications plan. Key responsibilities include the development of high-quality content assets (i.e., case studies, blog posts, press releases, website copy), creation of social media content and implementation of social media strategy, and providing communications support to advance team initiatives (i.e., program, development, policy, alumni) as well as organizational priorities.

 

Specific Responsibilities

Content Creation

  • Collaborate with the Senior Director to develop high-quality content assets to support New Leaders mission, vision, and voice.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Director to develop compelling copy, including case studies, blogs, that supports organizational goals, engages key audiences, and adheres to established brand guidelines and voice.
  • Participate in editorial meetings to support the monthly content calendar led by the Senior Director, Communications.
  • Support our blog strategy by researching and writing search-engine optimized blog posts, scheduling and maintaining blog calendar, communicating with guest writers for submissions, maintaining subscriber list, and promoting via multiple channels.
  • Support webinar strategy by scheduling webinars, develop and implement campaigns to drive attendance, and assist in preparing presentation materials.
  • Ensure that all communications and marketing material aligns with brand standards.
  • Provide copy editing support, as needed.

Social Media Lead in Strategy and Execution

  • Implement social media strategy in consultation with the Senior Director, Communications and Senior Director, Marketing and provide insights and recommendations for channel improvement and enhancement.
  • Create social media content calendar across Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Twitter.
  • Create social media graphics and design according to New Leaders branding style guide.
  • Create and execute engagement strategy to increase engagement and follower growth across all channels.
  • Monitor channels and reply back to follower messages, comments, and replies.
  • Keep abreast of channel best practices, algorithm updates and implications.
  • Explore and execute content in new features across channels (stories, reels, user-generated content, etc.).

Support Org-Wide Communication Strategy

  • Under the direction of the Senior Director, write press releases and statements to advance the goals of our Program, Development, Policy, and Alumni Impact teams, including targeted communications support for our inaugural National Aspiring Principals Fellowship.
  • Support the development and dissemination of org-wide statements.
  • Update and maintain the organization website, including text edits, uploading content into the Content Management System, and ensure all links and forms are operational and appropriately redirected web-based forms.
  • Maintain digital media archives including photos and videos.
  • Manage the organization and distribution of company brand assets, including logos, templates, branding guidelines, and imagery.
  • Continually leverage analytics and data to inform and advance communications strategy.
  • Work with Marketing and Partner Engagement team members to conceptualize and implement communications strategies and campaigns.
  • Complete ad hoc projects as identified by the Senior Director, Communications.

Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Skills, Experiences, and Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Degree in Communications a plus.
  • At least 6 years of professional experience in communications or a related industry Experience in education a plus.
  • Equity-driven with demonstrated ability to work well with people from a wide diversity of demographic and cultural characteristics; must be capable of achieving results while maintaining an inclusive, collaborative leadership style.
  • Superior and persuasive verbal and written communication skills.
  • Content writing experience across platforms, including proven social media expertise.
  • Creative and strategic mindset.
  • Ability to be self-directed and take initiative.
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating across organization.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Hootsuite, and all social media channels required.
  • Proficiency in Hubspot and Adobe Creative Suite preferred.
  • Travel may be required on occasion (travel temporarily limited).
