SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Located just outside of Seattle, WA, Lake Washington Institute of Technology (LWTech) was founded in 1949, and is the only public institute of technology in Washington State, that provides students with the latest cutting edge skills relevant to today’s workplace. LWTech offers ten applied bachelor’s degrees, more than 40 associate degrees and 93 professional certificates, in 43 areas of study, including STEM-focused programs in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
The Associate Dean of Business provides leadership to programs in the School of Business and directly oversees the Baccalaureate of Applied Science in Transportation and Logistics Management (BAS TLSCM) degree. The associate dean must work effectively with faculty, staff, students, administration, vendors, and other state and accrediting agencies to plan and directly oversee the BAS TLSCM program and collaborate with School of Business faculty to maximize enrollment and grow programs. This is an exempt, contracted, administrative position that reports to the division dean.

• Management of BAS TLSCM Program: The Associate Dean is responsible for direction of the BAS TLSCM program. Duties include curriculum development, student advising, program promotion, hiring and supervising faculty, developing logistics and transportation courses, developing internship, co-op education and capstone experience sites, budget development, enrollment management, marketing, development of articulations/transfer pathways, and developing and working with the industry-based advisory committee.
• School of Business: The Associate Dean will work directly with the Dean and collaborate with department chairs/faculty directors to refine and develop School of Business programming to grow enrollment and ensure School of Business programming is competitive and serves the needs of a diverse student body, community partners, and businesses and industry.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
BAS TLSCM program:

• Manage all planning, instructional operations, and program evaluation activities of the BAS TLSCM program in a manner consistent with the college mission, vision, goals, and policies
• Provide leadership for the upper division program, including curriculum development, program outreach, student mentoring, participation in industry events, coordination with lower division programs, and graduate placement
• Lead hiring for, supervise, train, evaluate and mentor assigned TLSCM faculty; develop and monitor professional development plans; back up other college staff as necessary
• Plan and develop a variety of upper division courses appropriate to the transportation and logistics program goals; may include courses in management of transportation and logistics business, supply chain, warehousing and distribution centers, international transportation and border security, airport and seaport operations, and warranty administration; develop class and sequence schedules.
• Establish industry relationships and develop and manage sites as appropriate for internship, co-op education and/ or capstone experiences
• Develop, plan, and manage department budgets and purchasing; coordinate with the budget office and college staff as necessary
• Participate in, develop and supervise the BASTLM advisory committee, guide instructional team meetings, other meetings about the BASTLM and other related activities
• Serve on the selection committee for selective student entrance to the program.
• Interpret student records and assess student progress; assist students with educational success strategies and assist instructors with student management strategies
• Advise and inform college staff on department matters; identify potential problem areas and make appropriate recommendations; ensure areas of responsibility operate in accordance with federal and state regulations, accreditation standards, and college policy

School of Business:

• Represent the college to the community and technical college system, community organizations, and in business and industry relations. Build and maintain partnerships with regional employers.
• Work collaboratively with the Dean, faculty, students, staff, and industry partners to develop new offerings and revitalize existing programs within the School of Business. Identify growth opportunities for new programming and oversee the program development process including comprehensive needs assessment, proposed curriculum content, budget and funding, and potential regional partnerships.
• Work collaboratively with faculty directors/department chairs to regularly review each program, with a sustained focus on curricular development consistent with academic requirements and industry needs.
• Establish and maintain peer relationships with other institutions for establishment of articulation agreements and transfer pathways.
• Develop grant proposals and support grant activities where applicable
• Using data, assist the Dean in addressing achievement gaps in the School of Business student population.
• Monitor, manage, and assess the quality and effectiveness of Business programs from an equity-minded student success lens. Promotes data-driven decision making.
• Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

• Master’s Degree, preferably in an academic discipline of oversight, educational administration or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and occupational experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities have been acquired.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, customer service skills, and ability to function as an effective team member
• Demonstrated ability to work successfully with students, staff and community from diverse backgrounds
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office software applications

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Five years of occupational experience outside the field of education; experience related to a program area of oversight, especially Transportation, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, is preferred.
• Experience building partnerships with higher education institutions and other organizations to build pathways for learners
• Experience developing new academic programs and/or revising academic programs to increase enrollment
• Grant writing and/or grant management experience

Compensation & Work Schedule Initial salary placement is $9,290 per month. This is a 40-hours per week, exempt position. Typical working hours are Monday – Friday 7:30am – 4:30pm on-campus or via teleworking.
