This is the entry-level position on our legal team. In this role as the Associate Counsel, you will be an integral member of our in-house legal team, supporting other attorneys on the team. You’ll also provide key support to our analyst team by researching high-risk areas, training, and coaching analysts, and serving as a point of contact for escalations from our client
We are currently looking for candidates who are local to the Portland Metro Area, but this position will be remote until the pandemic subsides.

What You’ll Do:
- Perform comprehensive legal research across a wide variety of subject areas and jurisdictions.
- Example subject areas include healthcare, telemedicine, pharmaceutical products, gambling, financial services, adult content, weapons, and others.
- Evaluate, analyze, and synthesize information from diverse sources.
- Exercise sound judgment to pursue relevant, targeted research.
- Write clear, concise documents ranging from brief client answers to memoranda to lengthy analysis.
- Adjust writing to the target audience – from internal analysts to executives, to clients.
- Maintain team-specific resource library.
- Edit others’ writing in keeping with LegitScript style.
- Continually develop expertise in subject matters relevant to LegitScript.
- Decisively answer analyst questions.
- Confidently provide final decisions for analysts and clients.
- Use sound judgment in determining which issues to escalate.
- Assist in general legal work for the company as needed.
What You’ll Bring:
- J.D. or equivalent degree.
- Oregon Bar membership, ability to obtain Oregon Bar membership within six months of employment, or eligibility for Oregon house counsel admission
- Excellent legal research skills
- Excellent writing skills
- Confident decision-maker and able to work under pressure
- Comfortable advising others on complex topics
- Exhibit a growth mindset by being open to feedback, embracing change as an opportunity
- Ability to work in a collaborative environment
Highly Desired:
- Experience with FDA or FTC or similar regulations
- Experience in healthcare, pharmaceutical industry, or payments/financial services industry
