POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Senior Manager of Africa and Middle East Programs, the Associate’s main role will be to coordinate and expand the Americares network of ongoing Access to Medicine partners in Africa and the Middle East. This network currently includes international and national NGOs, faith-based organizations, and government partners in Ghana, Liberia, Tanzania, Sierra Leone, Zambia, South Sudan, Cote D’Ivoire, Mali, Malawi, Lebanon, Gaza, West Bank, Eswatini, and Central African Republic.

The Associate will be the primary point of contact for all partners in this ongoing Access to Medicine network and will be the primary driving force behind the team’s Access to Medicine work and agenda. Additionally, the Associate will have diverse responsibilities in the areas of program administration, medical logistics, operations, finance, monitoring and evaluation, reporting, emergency response and recovery, stakeholder engagement, legal and compliance, development, and supply chain management.

Duties and Responsibilities:

-Review, offer, and coordinate sea and air shipments of medical Gift-In-Kind products to support ongoing Access to Medicine partners in Africa and the Middle East (A&ME)
-Maintain trackers and files related to shipments of Gift-In-Kind products
-Research, vet, and onboard new potential ongoing Access to Medicine partners within A&ME
-Coordinate the annual partnership renewal process with all ongoing Access to Medicine partners within A&ME
-Manage the relationship with and provide exceptional and timely service to Access to Medicine partners, including phone/Zoom coordination calls as necessary
-Work closely with cross-departmental teams, including Gift-In-Kind Process Management, Logistics, Development, Corporate Relations, Marketing and Communications, A&ME desk officers, and Field and Project Administration
-Collect and review reporting from ongoing A&ME Access to Medicine partners, including distribution data and impact reporting
-Collect needs lists and qualitative and quantitative data to support specialty donation requests for A&ME partners
-Compile and submit monthly and quarterly reporting and data to A&ME team leadership and for donors, gather targeted impact stories from our partners
-Support the Marketing and Communications team with updating A&ME webpage content related to Access to Medicines partners and countries
-Monitor emergencies in the A&ME regions via news and alert systems daily and liaise with the Emergency Programs department to support ongoing A&ME Access to Medicine partners during emergency situations
-Travel within the A&ME regions to perform site monitoring visits with Access to Medicine partners
-Facilitate innovation and process improvements related to Americares Access to Medicine work, including beta-testing new software and processes, providing feedback on SOPs, and taking part in relevant working groups
-Assist during internal and external audit inquiries
-Respond to all information requests from external parties interested in Americares Access to Medicine work in A&ME
-Assist with other tasks as necessary

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
-Bachelor’s Degree/Diploma in Public Health, International Development, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
-Experience working in low-resource settings in Africa and/or the Middle East
-Exceptionally strong organization skills and attention to detail
-Demonstrated ability to multi-task and be adaptable
-Excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural skills and diplomacy
-Excellent written and oral communications skills in English, including report writing and editing
-Passion for the Americares mission and the fields of global health and international development
-Ability and flexibility to travel to Africa and the Middle East, if needed, up to 15% of the time
-Ability to work without constant supervision (self-sufficient, self-starter, proactive, and a fast learner)
-Genuine interest in improving access to medicines and medical supplies in low resource countries and settings
-High proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint)
-Willingness and ability to learn new systems i.e. inventory management

PREFERRED:
-Working proficiency in French and/or Arabic
-Knowledge of, or experience with, inventory management and supply chain principles
-Basic medical knowledge and training as an Emergency Medical Technician, Medical Assistant, Nursing Assistant, Pharmacy Technician, or other healthcare professional
-One or more years of prior work experience in Public Heath, International Development, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
