Full-Time Assistant Resident Engineer – Entry Level!
Job Description
- Work on minor and major construction projects.
- Supervise employees.
- Prepare and evaluate employee performance.
- Prepare monthly estimates, final estimates, and manage written and verbal communication with contractors, inspection staff, utility companies, and the public to ensure compliance with contract plans, standards, and specifications.
- Evaluate data collected by field staff and prepare technical letters/reports, review contract plans, specifications, and materials testing results.
- Experience reading, interpreting, and administering highway construction plans and contracts.
- Experience directing, assisting, or training staff.
- Knowledge and understanding of Civil Engineering principles and practices and the general concepts, practices, and theories used in construction, construction inspection, and/or construction surveying.
- Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle.
- You value safety and promote a safe working environment.
- Proficiency making highway engineering calculations and using survey instruments to supervise the stake-out of line grade for roadways and structures.
- Safety toe shoes.
- Attention to detail with a high degree of work accuracy and precision.
- Ability to work well with minimal supervision.
- Candidates who are a Registered Professional Engineer.
- You will work on projects in all types of weather and terrain.
- You must be available as necessary to manage staff 7/24.
- Your work time will be 70% office and 30% field.
- You may be required to work nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours, as necessary.
- We may require registration as a professional engineer by the NC Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering; or
- An equivalent combination of training and experience.
