Full-Time Assistant Professor, Sports Management
Job Description
The Division of Business and Economics at Elmira College invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position in Sports Management beginning in July 2025. Rank and compensation will be commensurate with experience. Candidates applying for this position should hold minimum qualifications including a master’s degree in Sports Management, or a closely related field. The successful candidate will be the Sports Management program lead in teaching, advising, service, and industry engagement. The faculty member is expected to advise and mentor undergraduate and/or graduate students, participate in curriculum development, and actively engage in service to the Elmira College community.
Prior teaching experience is highly desirable. Candidates must demonstrate a genuine desire to teach and participate fully in a liberal arts environment that emphasizes close student-faculty interaction. Participation in academic and career advising and engagement in scholarly activities is expected. This position is a full-time, nine-month position. Classes will be taught in person on the Elmira College campus.

Responsibilities
- Teach 24 credit hours per academic year consisting of a variety of undergraduate sport management courses
- Develop and update curriculum to reflect current industry trends and best practices and incorporate experiential learning opportunities into coursework
- Perform all duties related to course management and delivery
- Mentor and advise students
- Participate in faculty meetings and serve on committees
- Participate in campus events and assist in managing sport-related functions and events on campus
- Develop professionally through reading, practice, scholarship, and formal instruction
- Be involved in service to the profession, the community
- Participation in academic and career advising and engagement in scholarly activities is expected.
Qualifications
- A minimum of a Master’s degree in Sports Management, Business of Sports, or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated teaching excellence at the collegiate level.
- Industry experience in sports management or related areas.
- Experience in teaching and curriculum development within higher education or corporate settings.
- Strong entrepreneurial mindset with a track record of developing innovative programs that drive enrollment and market recognition.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Compensation
The base salary / rate is $68,000.
