Full-Time Assistant Professor of Instruction – GIS
Job Description
The University of Akron is expanding its teaching strengths in the Department of Geosciences by opening a non-tenure track position with focus on geographic information systems (GIS) and remote sensing. Current faculty members serve approximately 7 M.S. students and 100 undergraduates majoring in geology and environmental science. Candidates must possess at least a Master’s degree in a geography or a related field that involves geospatial expertise, but a Ph.D. or ABD in the same fields is preferred. Candidates should also possess the ability to teach courses related to GIS and remote sensing. Successful candidates will have the ability to work in an interdisciplinary setting as these courses will support the Geoscience, Anthropology, Civil Engineering, and Criminal Justice programs at the University of Akron. The successful candidate will be able to show evidence of the ability to teach geospatial courses effectively, and in a diverse and inclusive setting.
