Assistant Professor of Educational Psychology

Ball State University’s Department of Educational Psychology has a full-time tenure track faculty position available Fall 2021. Primary responsibilities will include teaching courses and supervising students in the M.A. program in School Counseling. Active scholarship is both required and valued by the institution. Areas of research interest and clinical focus are open, with preference provided for areas that support the needs and initiatives of the Department, College, University, or community. Service to the University, community, and professional community is also required for successful performance in the department.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Teaching responsibilities will primarily be within the M.A. program in School Counseling, although occasionally, courses will include doctoral and Ed.S. students from the School Psychology programs.
  • Faculty members are expected to provide support in the form of field experience supervision. To provide supervision, successful candidates must possess or demonstrate eligibility for a Professional School Counseling license in the State of Indiana.
  • An active research agenda is required for successful progress in the promotion process, with flexibility in area of expertise in research. Preference will be given to research that supports the mission of the University, College, and Department and supports research development of doctoral and masters students. Expertise and/or scholarly interest in topics related to inclusion, equity, and diversity is also valued.
  • Service to the University, community, and professional community is also required for successful performance in the department.

 

Minimum Qualifications: Doctorate in Counselor Education or a related field with an emphasis in professional school counseling from an accredited institution by the date of appointment. Must obtain Indiana School Counseling License within one year of date of appointment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • University teaching experience.
  • Experience providing field experience supervision to counselors in training.
  • Experience working as a professional school counselor in elementary, middle, or high school setting.
  • Experience with the CACREPaccreditation process and student learning outcomes model.
  • Evidence of successful research involvement.
  • Active research agenda, with flexibility in area of expertise.
  • Expertise and/or scholarly interest in topics related to diversity.
  • Active membership in school counseling and related professional organizations.
  • Experience developing, implementing, and evaluating comprehensive school counseling programs (e.g. ASCANational Model, RAMP).
