Assistant Professor of Communication Studies
Ball State University
The Department of Communication Studies has a full-time tenure-line faculty position in Communication Studies with expertise in rhetoric, and either health communication, sports communication, or communication and technology available August 2021.
Primary responsibilities include teaching undergraduate classes such as Rhetorical Theory and Criticism, Rhetoric and Advocacy, Political Communication, Speechwriting, Communication and Democracy, and Communication and Pop Culture; teaching graduate courses such as Rhetorical Theory and Rhetorical Criticism; and teaching classes in the area of Sports Communication, Health Communication, or Communication and Technology.
Additional responsibilities include pursuing scholarly research that leads to convention presentations and publications in rhetoric and/or related area(s) of academic interest; actively contributing to the intellectual and professional life of the Department of Communication Studies; serving on departmental, college, and university committees as needed; engaging in professional service to the discipline of Communication Studies; and performing other duties as assigned by the departmental chairperson.
Minimum Qualifications:
Doctorate in Communication Studies by date of appointment from an accredited institution; three years of part-time or full-time teaching experience at the college or university level obtained concurrently or at any time; evidence of teaching effectiveness as demonstrated through student evaluations; evidence of scholarly potential as demonstrated through presentations at academic conferences and/or publications; expertise in rhetorical research methods as demonstrated through presentations or publications.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience teaching graduate courses; experience advising graduate students; established record of scholarly productivity.
