SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Located just outside of Seattle, WA, Lake Washington Institute of Technology (LWTech) was founded in 1949, and is the only public institute of technology in Washington State, that provides students with the latest cutting edge skills relevant to today’s workplace. LWTech offers ten applied bachelor’s degrees, more than 40 associate degrees and 93 professional certificates, in 43 areas of study, including STEM-focused programs in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math.

Compensation & Work Schedule
Placement on the faculty salary schedule is based on an individual assessment of education and experience. This positions ranges from $93,306-$108,785 per year; salary is for an academic year (173 days) and as may be adjusted according to the faculty bargained agreement. Additional compensation is earned for industry held certifications. Working hours are usually Monday through Friday between 7:30 am to 4:30 pm, with some evening advising and other flexible hours as needed. Summer quarter employment may be available based on student enrollment. This is a full-time, Annual Renewable position.
JOB SUMMARY:
We are looking to hire one full-time Annual Renewable Faculty with the possibility of converting to Tenure Track faculty member based on experience. It offers the opportunity to train and prepare students to enter the nursing profession. Faculty also assist in evaluating and modifying courses when necessary to meet the needs of the changes in industry. The position reports to the Associate Dean of Nursing Programs.
The faculty position will teach nursing theory and supervise students in off-campus clinical laboratory experiences for Pediatrics and or/ medical surgical in acute care, long term care facilities, or in community agencies. The teaching assignments will vary to reflect changes in staffing and enrollment and will include team teaching and sharing responsibility for a class. A portion of the clinical teaching may occur in late afternoon, weekend or evening hours and/or at off-campus locations. In addition to teaching, this position involves advising students, assisting with test construction, developing programs and curricula and participating in college governance, department/division and campus-related professional activities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Plan and develop a variety of instructional objectives and experiences appropriate to the Nursing program’s goals including appropriate general education requirements for degrees and certificate
• Teach a variety of Nursing courses, including related preparation and grading
• Identify individual learning needs of students and make appropriate adjustments
• Provide individual academic/professional-technical guidance and advising to students
• Develop and teach productive and constructive work habits, study skills, and core skills as identified by the college; and model the communication, computation, and human relations skills required for employment in Nursing fields
• Develop and teach lessons which foster and support cultural diversity, equity and inclusion
• Develop classroom and laboratory procedures, including safety, in accordance with identified local, state, and federal policies and procedures
• Maintain appropriate records which indicate student progress and meet college grading requirements
• Evaluate student achievement in terms of curricular objectives as related to Nursing knowledge and practice
• Follow disciplinary procedures, as prescribed in college policy, and deal consistently a fairly with all students
• Design learning experiences for the unique characteristics of individual students Participate in self-improvement activities and staff development in the assigned instructional area and technical field
• Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of their area, including Nursing competency in areas of responsibility and current clinical competency, and relate specific applications to industry
• Develop and maintain industry and/or community support for nursing programs by attending craft and advisory committee meetings and maintaining contact with industry for co-op job placement and follow-up activities
• Work with college counselors, special needs faculty, and academic faculty to identify general education learning needs for students in order to meet those needs
• Assist in developing, expanding, revising, and updating effective program materials and department goals; evaluate and review program for requirements for outcomes assessments, state and national accreditation
• Regular and satisfactory attendance and punctuality; other duties as assigned
• Maintain regular office hours
• Develop curriculum and develop and assess program and educational outcomes
• Perform advising, recruiting, and retention activities
• Hold regular meetings of the program advisory committee
• Take part in college accreditation, program review, and college committees as specified in the faculty bargained agreement
• Perform other professional activities as approved by the director and dean

QUALIFICATIONS
• Master’s degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university required
• Current license or ability to acquire a license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Washington State
• Recent medical/surgical or specialty nursing clinical experience preferred
• Hold or be eligible to obtain a professional-technical certificate to teach in the technical area; valid CPR/First Aid/AHA BLS certificate required
• Simulation or CHSE certification is desired
