SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Located just outside of Seattle, WA, Lake Washington Institute of Technology (LWTech) was founded in 1949, and is the only public institute of technology in Washington State, that provides students with the latest cutting edge skills relevant to today’s workplace. LWTech offers ten applied bachelor’s degrees, more than 40 associate degrees and 93 professional certificates, in 43 areas of study, including STEM-focused programs in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The programs offered at Lake Washington Institute of Technology’s (LWTech) School of Business prepare students for successful business-related careers. Programs offered in the School of Business are for people who are interested in the operational areas of business, including but not limited to Business Technology, Project Management, Accounting, and Entrepreneurship.
SUMMARY OF POSITION
This is an Annual Renewable position with the possibility of converting to a Tenure Track.
Lake Washington Institute of Technology is seeking a qualified full-time faculty in the Business Technology program. Business Technology candidate should be proficient with the current version of Microsoft Office software, preferably have a Microsoft Office Suite(MOS) certification, and be prepared to teach those applications. In addition, project management experience and certification is preferred.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Plan and teach a variety of program courses appropriate to business technology (primary Microsoft Office Suite) and Project Management
• Design learning experiences for the unique characteristics of individual adult students through classes, individual instruction, and self-directed learning
• Convey expertise, passion, and innovation in teaching Business Technology, Project Management, and related courses
• Accept an ownership stake in developing and enhancing curriculum for courses in Business Technology & Project Management Program
• Identify individual learning needs of students and make appropriate adjustments
• Develop, promote, and instruct courses about productive and constructive work habits, study skills, and core skills identified by the college; develop and incorporate instructional methods that support best learning practices
• Work with counselors, special needs faculty, and other faculty to identify and incorporate general education learning needs for technical students
• Field inquiries from prospective students about the program
• Advise students on educational and career planning, facilitate student learning through traditional activities and various alternative teaching/learning methods
• Support current and recruit new advisory committee members to gain buy-in from local employers and generate positive word of mouth for the program
• Participate in college initiatives such as Guided Pathways and EDI
• Participate in professional development activities related to industry and the college
• Participate in 2 college committees
• Serve on faculty hiring committees as assigned
• Teach a full-time load as per the bargained contract
• Teach in person and online asynchronous and synchronous courses during the day and possibly in the evening
• Other duties as assigned
In addition, full-time faculty will also:
• Maintain regular office hours; participate in department and division meetings
• Develop curriculum and develop and assess program and educational outcomes.
• Perform advising, recruiting, and retention activities
• Take part in college accreditation, program accreditation, program review, and college committees as specified in the faculty bargaining agreement
• Be available on some evenings or weekends to assist with college-related activities and functions
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution in Business, or related discipline. Project Management experience and certification is preferred
• Two or more years of relevant industry or professional work experience
• A minimum of 1-2 years of teaching or structured training experience preferred
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Experience using multiple modalities for instruction, including traditional, hybrid, and online course development and delivery
• Ability to encourage and facilitate the learning of students and colleagues from diverse backgrounds and academic readiness

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Compensation & Work Schedule This position is for the 2024-2025 Academic year and begins September 2024. Placement on the faculty salary schedule is based on an individual assessment of education and experience. This positions ranges from $74,028-$87,146 per year; salary is for an academic year (173 days) and as may be adjusted according to the faculty bargained agreement. Summer quarter employment may be available based on student enrollment. This is a full-time, Annual Renewable position with the possibility of converting to tenure track.
