Located just outside of Seattle, WA, Lake Washington Institute of Technology (LWTech) was founded in 1949, and is the only public institute of technology in Washington State, that provides students with the latest cutting edge skills relevant to today’s workplace. LWTech offers ten applied bachelor’s degrees, more than 40 associate degrees and 93 professional certificates, in 43 areas of study, including STEM-focused programs in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. Lake Washington Institute of Technology is seeking a qualified Full-Time Professor of Architecture to teach in our Architectural Technology Program. This Professor position requires a minimum of five years of related industry experience, college teaching experience preferred, with industry certifications preferred.

Candidates must be available to start teaching at the beginning of Fall quarter, September 2023. Expertise in software: AutoCAD, Revit, Sketch-Up; Architecture, Design; five years of related experience to the Architecture/Engineering/Construction (AEC) industry is required.

Priority review of candidates will be given to those who apply on or before April 23rd.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Teach beginning design, drawing, theory courses

• Teach architectural fundamental courses

• Teach architecture design studio courses

• Teach materials and methods courses

• Teach AutoCAD to beginning-level students

• Teach Revit to beginning-level students

• Plan and develop a variety of instruction objectives and experiences appropriate to the program goals

• Identify individual learning needs of students and make appropriate adjustments Develop and teach to the objectives of the approved curriculum

• Develop and teach lessons which foster and support cultural diversity, equity, and inclusion Develop classroom and lab procedures in conformance with identified policies and procedures

• Maintain appropriate records which indicate student progress and meet college requirements

• Follow disciplinary procedures as prescribed and deal consistently and fairly with all students

• Design learning experiences for the unique characteristics of individual adult students through classes, individual instruction and self-directed learning

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school of architecture required, Master’s preferred

• 5+ years related current work experience; licensed architect preferred

• College teaching experience preferred

• Industry certifications, AIA, Leed AP

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Must have sensitivity and ability to successfully interact with diverse populations Due to the diversity of the college population, we encourage applicants who are multilingual

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION

Compensation & Work Schedule Placement on the faculty salary schedule is based on an individual assessment of education and experience. This positions ranges from $67,978-$80,024 per year; salary is for an academic year (173 days) and as may be adjusted according to the faculty bargained agreement. Summer quarter employment may be available based on student enrollment.
