Assistant Lecturer of Construction Management

Ball State University’s Department of Construction Management and Interior Design and the R. Wayne Estopinal College of Architecture and Planning are seeking a prospective full-time contract position available August 2021. The Department of Construction Management and Interior Design is home to a vibrant and collegial work environment. The Construction Management program consist of seven full-time faculty and approximately 250 students. The program has been continuously ACCE accredited since 2012.
Primary Responsibilities: Teach 12 hours per semester in the area of construction management as assigned by the department chair. Major focus for the position includes: (1) background, knowledge, and skills in the areas of construction management and safety, (2) ability to work cooperatively with faculty and staff to foster curriculum improvement and development, (3) Perform other related duties as assigned by the department chair.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s degree from an accredited institution with at least one degree in construction, interior design, architecture, engineering, or closely related field.
- Two years of experience in the construction industry.
- Experience with construction technology, construction software programs and construction documents and specifications.
Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with design processes and design-build delivery methods.
- A record of successful teaching experience, as demonstrated through reappointment to teaching positions, student evaluations, peer evaluations and/ or administrative evaluations.
- Licensure and/or certification in engineering, architecture, interior design, LEED, safety, etc.
- More than two years of experience in design and/or the construction industry.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
