Assistant Lecturer/Assistant Teaching Professor of Music Education (General)

Ball State University’s School of Music invites applications for a full-time contract appointment in music education with a general music background available August 2021, to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in music education, with an emphasis on principles of music education, general music methodologies, classroom instruments, field experience supervision, and other courses based on the expertise of the candidate and the needs of the school.

 

Colleagues, as part of 60 music faculty at the School of Music, are strongly committed to the teaching profession.

 

Primary Responsibilities: Undergraduate teaching assignments will include elementary general music methods, introduction to music education, field experience and student teacher supervision, and other courses based on the expertise of the candidate and the needs of the school. Graduate teaching assignments will be assigned based on the expertise of the candidate and the needs of the school.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Music Education from an accredited college or university.
  • Five years of K-12 music teaching experience.
  • Two years of collegiate teaching experience (faculty or graduate teaching assistant) gained concurrently or at any time.

Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Doctorate in Music Education from an accredited college or university.
  • Extensive K-12 music teaching experience.
  • Collegiate teaching experience at both undergraduate and graduate levels (including thesis/dissertation supervision).
  • A documented history of professional productivity in Music Education as a requisite to serving on the university graduate faculty.
