Job Description:
The Assistant Director, Nursing is directly accountable to the Director of Nursing for the following duties and responsibilities.
The individual filling this position is expected to play a positive role in helping the College change as necessary to effectively carryout its mission.
- Assist with student recruitment.
- Mentor faculty members.
- Provide support and direction in areas of educational development.
- Support and enforce school and academic policies and procedures; advise and support instructors, as needed.
- Assist in addressing students’ questions and concerns regarding attendance, curriculum and progression, graduation, and re-entry standards or issues.
- Manage student progress from orientation to graduation. Ensure satisfactory academic progress as it relates to student progression.
- Provide students with feedback directly or through faculty.
- Assist with all facets of operation of the Nursing Program, including curriculum, evaluation, academic support and student services.
- Assist with the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the curriculum of Nursing programs.
- Work cooperatively with level/program coordinators and the Director in course and curriculum planning.
- Teach as needed in the Nursing programs and maintain contemporary expertise in the subject matter.
- Oversee selection and utilization of clinical facilities, including maintenance of affiliation agreements.
- Coordinate selection and orientation programs for incoming students for the ADN program.
- Work cooperatively with the Nursing Success Specialist and the Director in implementing, evaluating and maintaining a retention plan for the ADN program.
- Meet with level/program coordinators and/or student(s) as the Director’s designee to discuss academic or student issues.
- Act as officer for program re-entry.
- Participate in commencement ceremonies.
- Complete mandatory annual compliance training.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
- Master’s degree in Nursing required. Doctorate strongly preferred.
- Current Florida RN or APRN license required (or eligible for Florida license).
- Minimum of two years’ professional nursing experience required.
- Experience in teaching nursing courses in a postsecondary institution strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience with technology-based instruction preferred.
- Demonstrated commitment to community involvement.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
