Full-Time Assistant Accountant
Job Description
The role
Bristol University Press (BUP) is an award-winning social science publisher committed to making a difference and influencing social change.
BUP has grown rapidly, and we are now recruiting a new Assistant Accountant to support the month end activities, financial planning, analysis and reporting for BUP. The post-holder will seek continuous improvement of BUP’s day-to-day financial processes and analysis.
We are looking for a highly motivated and proactive person who can provide excellent financial support and initiate process improvement and analysis to improve financial performance.
What will you be doing?
The post-holder will be responsible for month end journals, reconciliations and analysis. They will be the first point of contact for BUP’s departmental queries and provide support during key financial planning periods. They will be responsible for the annual royalties payment process with the support of the Finance Administrator. The role will report to the BUP Finance Manager and will work closely with the Finance Administrator.
You should apply if
The ability to communicate effectively with non-financial colleagues is crucial alongside technical accounting knowledge and advanced excel skills. The post-holder will have excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
Experience of publishing would be an advantage but not essential.
