Full-Time Application Engineer Supervisor

Job Description

Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Application Engineer Supervisor to join the Building Controls Systems Team in Richardson, Texas.  Oversee the day to day engineering activities and people. Responsible for both tactical and strategic planning, the Engineering Supervisor will coordinate efforts of the assigned team to achieve specific KPI’s. May interface between internal customers, outside sales, project management, application engineering, field service personnel. 

 

What Will You Do?

  1. Provides day to day operational leadership, guidance, development and motivation to assigned team to achieve superior results and accomplish overall business objectives.
  2. Documents best practices and brings passion to continuous improvement.
  3. Manages a team of engineers. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; driving accountablility, addressing complaints, anticipating and resolving problems related to customer needs and expectations.
  4. May use statistical analysis methodologies, data modeling and forecasting tools to manage KPI’s and deliver business results.
  5. Manage and communicate lead time on products, expedites, cancellations, and tracking information.
  6. Performs other similar and related duties as required.

Required Skills

Education:  BS in engineering or related technical field, or equivalent work experience, or combination of education and equivalent experience.

Experience: Minimum 5 years of progressive business experience in Engineering, Technical Project Management or other related field. Minimum of 2 years direct management experience preferred but not required.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

Industry knowledge to better understand internal and/or external customer needs.

 

Must have strong leadership skills, with demonstrated ability to supervise others.

Provide guidance, development and motivation to staff to achieve superior results and accomplish overall business objectives.

 

Requires strong organizational and time management skills and be able to effectively handle multiple priorities.  Ability to work in a high volume, fast paced environment is a must. 

 

Independent judgment is required to plan, prioritize, organize and accomplish a diversified work load.

 

Must be highly collaborative and able to work in a team based environment.  Must foster open communication and support an environment of innovation and creative change. 

 

Able to communicate effectively both in written format and oral presentation. Able to create effective reports, presentations and business correspondence.  Must be an effective listener, able to maintain focus extract necessary information and validate understanding of the information.

 

Strong computer skills, proficient with word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software, e-mail and meeting management software.  Ability to use internet and web based resources efficiently and effectively.

 

Must be proficient in negotiation and influencing skills.

 

Must have solid business acumen and understanding of a variety of functional areas within the business.
