| Join our Chesapeake Agriculture Team! Our work is focused on improving water quality and building climate resiliency in a way that supports a thriving agricultural community in the Chesapeake Bay. This position will be part of the Maryland/DC Chapter and will support projects in Maryland and Delaware. As a key member of the Chapter’s Chesapeake Agriculture Team, your position will advance opportunities to improve water quality, enhance habitat, and build resiliency to and mitigate impacts of climate change in agricultural landscapes in Maryland and Delaware. Using your understanding of regional agricultural systems, you will provide vision and leadership to accelerate implementation of agricultural conservation practices. You will also apply your organizational experience to advance existing collaborations with federal, state, local and private partners, and evaluate opportunities for new partnerships that increase nutrient use efficiency and mitigate climate change. Your leadership will ensure that our work is benefiting the economic, environmental, and social wellbeing of our agricultural community. Finally, you will work with colleagues and partners across the watershed and have the opportunity to learn from TNC colleagues across North America and around the world. | Program Advancement: defines conservation priorities and long-term conservation strategies in Maryland and Delaware in line with the Conservancy’s Chesapeake Bay Agriculture Strategy, builds strategic, scientific, and technical capacity in the field, and widely communicates solutions and best practices. They identify and secure resources to advance projects and accelerate implementation toward our goals. Partnership Building: develops effective partnerships with federal, regional, and state agencies, conservation groups, the agribusiness community, and other public and private organizations engaged in agricultural issues. They foster and grow private-public partnerships that have the potential to accelerate the implementation of practices in agricultural landscapes to achieve our conservation goals and support local farming communities. They continue TNC’s representation and active participation on the steering committee of the DE-MD 4R Alliance, a collaboration among agribusinesses, farmers, government agencies, conservation groups and scientists working to ensure that every nutrient application on farms is consistent with the 4Rs – the right nutrient source, applied at the right rate, at the right time, in the right place. Project Coordination: manages multiple projects that support program goals (including budgets, timelines, and deliverables), supervises program staff and interns, coordinates communication and project tasks with colleagues and partners, and provides effective communication and updates about project goals, progress, and outcomes through multiple outlets.

| · Graduate degree in agriculture, natural resources, or related field · Expertise in agricultural systems and best management principles particularly related to farms in Maryland and Delaware. · Excellent communication skills via written, spoken and graphical means in English and other relevant languages · Ability and willingness to apply science to decision-making and to guide activities · Established relationships with agricultural community · Demonstrated experience advancing partnerships to achieve objectives · Completing tasks independently with respect to timeline(s) · Experience participating in multi-disciplinary, team-based projects · Multi-lingual and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience appreciated. · Demonstrated experience influencing, developing, and implementing conservation policy and plans. · Demonstrated experience in fundraising. · Politically savvy. |
