Part-Time Adjunct Faculty in Mathematics
Job Description
Elmira College is a private liberal arts College located in the Finger Lakes region of New York.
Elmira College seeks an outstanding individual to serve in the mathematics department in a part-time adjunct position. The ideal candidate will hold a minimum of a master’s degree in mathematics, mathematics education, or a related field of study and will have experience teaching in a high school or collegiate setting. Experience with developmental mathematics is preferred.
The current need is for Mathematics for Teachers II (MAT 2006) or College Algebra (MAT 1030).
Mathematics for Teachers is a two-course sequence that supplies the content knowledge needed to teach mathematics in elementary school. MAT 2006, the second course in the sequence, focuses on Geometry and provides a brief introduction to Statistics.
College Algebra (MAT 1030), prepares students for several other college-level math courses such as Statistical Methods, Precalculus, and Mathematics for Teachers. It covers simplifying expressions, graphing, and functions including exponential and logarithmic functions.
Winter term classes begin on January 8th, 2024 and end April 13th, 2024.
Work Location: On-site, not remote
Compensation: $900 per credit
