Job Description
Speak About It, Inc. is a nonprofit that provides performance-based education and sexual assault prevention programs to colleges and high schools across the country and the world. Our goal is to educate, entertain, and empower students to take an active role in sexual assault prevention and create positive change in their communities. Our programs advocate affirmative consent, promote awareness of healthy sexual choices, and encourage empathy.
We are currently hiring for part-time Actor Educators: Our Educators are responsible for performing the flagship show and leading trainings/workshops for college student leaders and high school students about healthy relationship skills (details below). These trainings take place in person and via video conferencing platforms. Educators are hired as part-time employees on seasonal offers through October 2022, and will have the option to apply for extensions if they are interested in working with SAI the full academic year.
Who makes a great consent educator? Our past educators have been professional actors, Gender/Women’s Studies majors, baristas with a passion for sex-ed, recent grads with an interest in social justice, unofficial relationship counselors, domestic violence advocates, children’s theater directors, special ed teachers, punk rock musicians, wilderness educators, stand-up comedians, and more!
We are committed to inclusivity, and welcome a diversity of candidates with different lived experiences, including (but not limited to) work experiences, gender identities and expressions, racial backgrounds, sexual orientations, sexual experiences, all body types and sizes, and folks who have lived experience with disabilities and neuro-atypicality. We work with high school and college students, so we seek Actor-Educators who are relatable for 16-24 year-olds.
Compensation:
$15/hour for travel, $18/hour for training and administrative work.
$25-$30/hour for programmatic work (performing the show, etc).
(Training is IN PERSON July 26-August 13 in Portland, ME with housing/travel provided. Each team will do an Orientation Tour from approximately August 21-September 7)
