POSITION OBJECTIVE:
The Accounting Clerk manages the accounts payable process, cash management, and recording of revenue for the Denver office and plays a key role in the month-close process. The Accounting Clerk is highly detailed – oriented and can clearly communicate verbal and written financial information to different audiences, including those who do not possess a financial background. This position is a remote, part-time role that works an average of 20 hours per week and allows for flexible hours. This is a temporary position that would last up to a year.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS & DUTIES:
- Manages the accounts payable process:
- Processes online bank checks/ACH/wire payments
- Manages the accounting review and approval of purchase orders and expense reports in the accounting system
- Manages corporate credit cards
- Ensures proper documentation and accuracy with all transactions
- Records all necessary entries in the accounting system
- Manages all vendor information and profiles in the accounting system
- Updates vendor banking information as well as uploads check files into the banking system
- Processes any stop payments in the banking system, as needed
- Resolves any issues or discrepancies with the bank
- Processes wire transfers to country offices, soliciting the optimal exchange rate between multiple institutions
- Tracks cash levels daily and initiates bank transfers, as needed
- Imports revenue into the accounting system and assists the Senior Accountant with the reconciliation between the accounting and donor database
- Performs month close tasks:
- Records fixed assets/depreciation, prepaids, pledges, accruals, gift in-kind, general ledger adjustments, and accrued vacation
- Records intercompany entries between country offices and Denver
- Updates consolidated exchange rates in the accounting system
- Performs multiple account reconciliations
- Compiles various financial reports, as needed
- Assists in the US payroll process by providing expense report details, completing a reconciliation report and posting the journal entry into the accounting system
- Performs other tasks as needed

EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Degree or related coursework in Accounting/Finance/Business or equivalent work experience preferred
- Two years of accounting or bookkeeping experience is preferred
- Nonprofit and/or international accounting experience desired
- High level of attention to detail and ability to meet routine deadlines
- Experience with Microsoft Excel and accounting software is desired (preferably NetSuite)
- Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form with those who may not possess a financial background
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
- This position is fully remote but must be based in the state of Colorado where our main office is located
- Our main office is located in Denver, Colorado
- This a non-exempt position
- Ability to work regular business hours to meet with personnel located in other time zones

Salary Range:
US anticipated salary range: $17 – $22 per hour
Actual payment will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors.
