Full-Time Accountant Manager

Job Description

 Position:                   Accountant Manager

Status:                               Full-time

Classification:            Exempt, salaried

Salary:                       Starting range $65,000-$70,000 annually, depending on experience

Location:                   Remote, must be US based

Reports to:               Senior Director of Finance

Date:                          06/29/2023

Overview:          The Accountant Manager position requires accounting work of a varied nature, including grant management, maintaining complex accounting records, and preparing and analyzing financial statements and reports. The position reports to the Director of Finance and provides information to present the fiscal status of the agency to funders and the Board of Directors. Guidelines are in the form of federal, state, and local tax laws; personnel regulations; administrative procedures; generally accepted accounting, auditing and financial reporting procedures; and computer system procedures.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for accurate and timely recording and reporting of all financial
  • Reconciles and balances various general ledger
  • Analyzes financial information detailing assets, liabilities, and capital, and assists in preparation of balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other monthly reports to summarize current and projected company financial
  • Audits contracts, orders, and vouchers, and prepares reports to substantiate individual transactions prior to settlement.
  • Oversees the preparation of the annual operating
  • Oversees the preparation and review of payroll
  • Prepares individual program budgets as required in grant
  • Prepares schedules to support grants, programs, and other donor related
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal
  • Provides assistance to outside auditors by preparing work papers and financial reports, as
  • Analyzes problems identified as a result of audit findings and develops recommendations for improved policies and procedures or other corrective
  • Recommends new or changed policies and actions to provide better financial management and greater
  • Attends staff and other online meetings as
  • Maintains confidentiality of all information
  • Stays current on emerging professional accounting
  • Complies with all agency policies and
  • Works with other staff members to form a positive, supportive team
  • Must work the days and hours to perform all assigned responsibilities and tasks and be punctual and timely in meeting all performance requirements, including but not limited to, attendance standards and work deadlines.
  • Must maintain courteous, professional, and effective working relationships with employees and clients of the organization.
  • Assists the CEO, Director of Programs, Development Director, and/or program supervisors with special projects, assignments, and any additional duties as deemed appropriate or as
  • Must understand and comply with the organization’s requirement to have a safe workspace and maintain confidentiality of the organization’s information, at all times (working remote, traveling, etc.)
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

  • Knowledge of nonprofit accounting QuickBooks experience mandatory. QuickBooks online a plus.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office applications and advanced knowledge in Excel including VLOOKUP’s and pivot
  • Effective and excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing, as well as organizational and planning skills required.
  • Knowledge of and the ability to accurately apply generally accepted accounting principles and
  • Ability to prepare and interpret financial reports and
  • Ability to prepare reports of historic data for use in preparing budget
  • Ability to organize, analyze and interpret financial and management data to solve management, accounting and taxation problems.
  • Ability and willingness to participate in ongoing professional development activities in order to keep current on new developments in the field and to enhance skills already
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills and ability to work
  • Maintain a valid government identification for travel.
  • Ability to travel (anticipated 1-2 times per year).

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business-related field. Equivalent work experience will be considered. Minimum 3 years of related experience.

 

Salary and Benefits: 

The hiring range for this position has been established at $65,000-$70,000 per year, and is commensurate with skills and experience.
