Minimum Qualifications of Education and Experience

*** There are two open positions for this posting. ***

Expected starting salary $30.31 to $40.47.  Full salary range $30.31 to $50.62.

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in accounting or related business field.

OR

Associate’s degree from an accredited college in accounting or related business field and two (2) years of paid, full-time experience in a similar position as listed in the work functions.

OR

Combination of education and experience equivalent to four (4) years of experience in a similar position as listed in the work functions.

Regular and reliable attendance is a necessary component of job/position. Individuals required to use County vehicles and equipment must have a valid driver’s license and be free of any major traffic violations for the last three (3) years.

Nature of Work

Under general supervision, this position works independently performing accounting functions, budget preparation, and financial analysis for assigned departments. Forecasts year-end financial results on an interim basis and produces financial statements and reports. Supports a diverse, respectful, and inclusive workplace.

Examples of Work

  • Collaborates with operational managers to track and maintain budgets.
  • Analyzes project development costs and assists operational managers with annual budget preparation. (including analysis of historical revenues and expenses).
  • Prepares journal entries, reviews reports, and verifies transactions for accuracy including reconciliation, support of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll transactions.
  • Researches variances from projected expenditures and/or revenues and works with department staff to recommend solutions.
  • Gathers and processes financial data for financial statements, reports, and projects.
  • Ensures grant setup and reporting requirements are followed.
  • Prepares and maintains organized procedures.
  • Assists with internal control and financial audits.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Knowledge of the principles of budgeting and accounting.
  • Knowledge of the principles of business management.
  • Skill in the use of computers and technology including data analysis tools.
  • Ability to recommend and implement initiatives to improve processes and technology
  • Ability to prioritize and organize tasks, workloads, and competing priorities under time constraints.
  • Ability to work collaboratively to enhance processes and achieve desired outcomes.
  • Ability to analyze problems and develop efficient and effective solutions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to perform detailed work timely and accurately.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
