Position Overview
The Division of Mental Health is seeking to hire an Accountant to perform professional accounting and auditing work. The position analyzes grantee and contractual budgets for fiscal soundness in accordance with statute and administrative rules; analyzes multiple external databases to ensure proper budgets and billing; resolves complex budget and billing issues; audits budgets, billings and performs corrective action; assists with future budgetary needs; and develops and provides training.
Job Responsibilities
1. Analyzes grantee and contractual budgets for fiscal soundness in accordance with statute and administrative rules.
2. Performs professional accounting and auditing work.
3. Analyzes multiple external databases to determine funding responsibility between the Department of Human Services (DHS), divisions, and sister agencies
4. Analyzes historical data for auditing and budgeting purposes.
5. Develops fiscal training material and provide training to community providers and DHS program staff on correct budget and billing procedures.
6. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college, with courses in business administration and accounting OR four years of technical accounting experience.
This class is included as an Upward Mobility Program certificate title.
Conditions of Employment
1. Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
2. Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.
3. Requires the ability to meet all agency vaccine/health-related policies and guidance.
