Job Summary
Under minimal supervision, coordinates academic technology programs and services, including supporting student uses of Chromebooks, iPads, and laptops in a 1:1 environment, faculty uses of a variety of educational technologies such as apps, websites, and projection systems, and answering family questions related to their students’ uses of family-owned devices and school systems. Manages the Makerspace and advises student clubs and robotics teams. Collaborates with the Director of Information Technology, their staff, and school leadership and advises the school on the continued evolution of our educational technology systems and programs to support teaching and learning.
Specific Responsibilities
- Clearly articulates a vision for technology use by teachers and students in the service of teaching and learning
- Facilitates teacher growth in teacher uses of academic technologies, using internal and external resources
- Manages the Schoology learning management system (LMS) so that teachers and students have access to the tools they need to support teaching and learning, and teachers implement new standards for LMS use
- Supports the school’s laptop and tablet programs (Chromebook, iPad, Mac and Windows), including device specifications, documentation, orientations, and troubleshooting
- Manages the Makerspace and supports faculty and student use as needed
- Coaches robotics teams in Middle School and Upper School
- Researches and recommends web, desktop, and mobile apps to school constituents upon request
- Ensures equitable access to the educational technology programs for students, faculty, and families
- As needed, teaches one elective course to students
- Meets regularly with the Director of Information Technology and their staff to provide a seamless technology experience to faculty, staff, and students
- Advocates for safe, effective and responsible use of technology among students and faculty as outlined in the University Prep Guidelines for Responsible Use of Technology
- Performs other duties as assigned
How to Apply
Required Education and Experience- Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university required
- Master’s degree in education or academic technology (or equivalent experience)
- 3+ years’ experience in school environment
- Proficiency with Schoology (or equivalent), Google Apps, Windows, MacOS, iOS, and ChromeOS
- Familiarity with common making, digital design and fabrication tools
- Up-to-date knowledge of the changing landscape of learning design and technology tools and strategies
- Facility with design thinking and systems thinking methodologies
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively with students, staff, faculty, coaches, and parents
- Understanding of and commitment to the school mission, vision, values, and strategic initiatives
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusivity
- Strong attention to detail and follow-through
- Excellent project management skills
- Ability to maintain confidential information
