Essential Functions and Objectives:
Responsible for performing technical analysis to solve business problems using advanced methods. Contributes to operational goals by influencing district decision-making. Administers the maintenance, procedures, and reporting district wide systems and platforms.
Provides school performance and student academic data analysis that is used to drive key decisions around charter and innovation school accountability as well as ongoing progress monitoring. Provides direct support to charter schools around key academic accountability processes such as the Unified Improvement Plans (mandated by the state of Colorado) and the School Performance Framework (report card for schools in Denver), and annual charter contract renewal decisions.
– Researches and applies analytical methods to solve complex problems. Analyze systems, programs, datasets and reports, to enhance the efficacy of district programs, processes, procedures, goals and objectives. Create metrics, examine data, interpret findings and extract insights.
– Improves data storage practices, in order to optimize extract, analysis and delivery of content. Handles actual data collection and input into systems; creates and documents queries; audits and cleans data; setup and validate infrastructure that complies with established processes and guidelines.
– Applies established research design to assess and provide advice to key stakeholders. Monitor and determine the impact of industry developments; determine data collection requirements; tracks and maintains results; studies data and reports results.
– Maintains proactive communication with key internal and external stakeholders; prepares dashboards and data visualizations to support recommendations for practitioners, partners and district stakeholder in effort to reveal gaps and areas of improvement. Works closely with functional experts, provides mentorship and catalyzes strong collaboration among all resources involved.
– Serves as a liaison to other departments in order to facilitate access to and analysis of student and school-level performance data.
– Collects data as a team member on charter renewal site visits though board and classroom observations and stakeholder interviews.
– Provides professional development and resources to department staff, charter schools, and innovations schools to build team capacity around accessing, understanding, and using student achievement data and school-level performance data.
– Provides data support for the department’s charter and innovation school quality assurance processes by compiling, analyzing and reporting student demographic and achievement data.
– Produces semi-annual analyses of the performance of all District charter schools and analyzes the portfolio for trends in performance at multiple levels.
– Reviews Unified Improvement Plans (UIPs) of all charter schools for compliance and quality; provides feedback and support to schools on UIP development and revision.
– Serves as a resource to schools in obtaining the information they need about the School Performance Framework data and/or other high stakes academic assessment data.
– Completes other duties as assigned, including periodic reports on autonomous schools as requested by leadership.
Knowledge, Experience & Other Qualifications:
– Three (3) plus years of experience, required.
– Two (2) years K-12 teaching experience, preferred.
– Ability to analyze and synthesize data and present data in both written and visual forms for a variety of stakeholders.
– Excellent organizational, multi-tasking and prioritization skills.
– Effective verbal and written communication skills.
– Work collaboratively with others on a team.
– High degree of integrity in handling confidential information.
– Aptitude for variety and changing expectations and a fast-paced environment.
– Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and Google Workspace.
– Effectively handles multiple demands and competing deadlines.
– Ability to work in a multi-ethnic and multicultural environment with district and school leaders, faculty, staff and students.
– Familiarity with student achievement data in large urban districts.
– Familiarity with K-12 instructional best practices.
Education Requirements:
– Bachelor’s Degree, required.
– Master’s Degree, preferred.
