Salary Range: $68,683 – $83,116

  

Essential Functions and Objectives:

Administers and manages activities within a specific area of a responsibility. Serves as the subject matter expert and applies gained knowledge to execute, maintain and improve systems, programs, or processes.  

Responsible for identifying and supporting the use of high-quality instructional resources, enhancing teaching and learning, and scaling effective programs to meet student achievement goals and to prepare all students for success in college, career, and life. Focuses heavily on delivering high-quality instructional materials through the lens of resource development, curation, refinement, implementation, and continual improvement.

Provides various support and conducts activities related to logistics, reporting, training, communications, and processes. Participates in the planning and implementation of new initiatives. 

Assesses and troubleshoots escalated problems and applies expert understanding to resolve complex challenges of stakeholders; focuses on root cause identification in order to achieve systemic and sustainable improvement. Approves and documents exceptions for compliance record keeping and reporting. 

Ensures appropriate key stakeholder involvement in planning, goal-setting, and implementation to achieve buy-in of work products. Ensures purposeful, positive and professional interactions and relationships with all stakeholders; enables consistent application of work products across the district.

Identifies opportunities for improvement, prioritizes, and recommends solutions to management. Implements approved enhancements to ensure consistency across the district. Identifies opportunities to reduce costs; analyzes available data, trends, and feedback, and ensures compliance with expectations for optimal operation and goal achievement. 

Leads the development, implementation, and continual improvement efforts of curriculum aligned to the Colorado Academic Standards; ensures alignment of the Science Colorado Academic Standards and content area curriculum with the English Language Arts Common Core State Standards and Math Common Core State Standards; and applies instructional expertise to improving the effectiveness of core curriculum and instruction in District schools, specifically including implementation of the Colorado Academic Standards, which are inclusive of the Common Core State Standards (CCSS).

Applies curriculum development expertise to setting criteria and building frameworks for developing rigorous Colorado Academic Standards (CAS) aligned curricula.

Ensures strong alignment between standards/shifts, scope and sequence, and assessment items and strong vertical and horizontal alignment in science resources.

Assesses needs of core content areas, content area teachers and school leaders and leads the development of resources to address those needs and increase the quality of instruction.

Develops bodies of annotated student work.

Revises curriculum based upon student outcomes and implementation feedback.

Develops research-based recommendations for instructional strategies, professional development, and assessments to increase the quality of teaching and learning in science.

Deeply analyzes student achievement data (student work samples, interim assessments and performance-based assessments) to determine how to better develop materials and provide targeted, high quality teacher supports.

Develops strategies and clear, specific, and ambitious performance measures for individual projects that are easily translated into individual work goals and deliverables for other team members.

Creates detailed timelines for each initiative; assesses and tracks project progress regularly, using various computer programs and tools; and drives project completion by holding others accountable for responsibilities and deadlines.

Knowledge, Experience & Other Qualifications:

A teaching career with five (5)  or more years of highly successful teaching experience; candidates with a minimum of two (2) years of teaching experience with exceptional results will be considered if there is relevant prior work experience.

Two (2) or more years proven, multi-year track record of exemplary teaching achievement, especially the achievement of low-income, underrepresented/under-served students.

Experience in the design of standards-based curriculum and assessments.

CDE teaching certificate in Science (elementary or secondary).

Knowledge of how students learn in the designated curriculum focus and knowledge of best program practices.

Knowledge of best practices in curriculum instruction and standards based education.

– Knowledge of culturally responsive education theory and best practices.

Knowledge of Google Suite with emphasis in Sheets, Forms, and Docs as well as Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel and Outlook.

Superior analytical skills and sound judgment to make critical decisions.

Meticulous organizational ability in order to set priorities, organize workload, handle multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate with a variety of audiences.

Capable of thriving in circumstances involving ambiguity and nuance.

Demonstrated content area expertise.

Knowledge of effective instructional programs and methodologies and experience in providing such instruction to meet Colorado Academic Standards and Colorado English Language Proficiency Standards.

Emotional constancy and extraordinary interpersonal skills to ensure purposeful and professional colleague relationships.

Passion for connecting with students and families in support of student success and a strong desire and willingness to support student achievement in traditionally under-served communities.

Demonstrated commitment to continuous professional learning.

Knowledge of second language acquisition in the curriculum content areas preferred.

Proficiency in reading, writing, listening, and speaking Spanish highly desirable.

Education Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree with a major in an area of curriculum focus required.

Master’s Degree with a major in an area of curriculum focus preferred.
