Primary Purpose

Partner as a Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) subject matter expert by giving perspective, insights, and knowledge as an engaged business partner to stakeholders across the business to help create a thriving and agile culture through thoughtful and proactive programs and forward-looking policies and practices. Collaboratively drives Company efforts to advance an inclusive workplace supporting the attraction and retention of a diverse, talented, and committed workforce with the support and direction of the Director of Diversity & Inclusion. Provide diversity, equity, and inclusion coaching and technical support to SDG&E leadership and employees on the implementation and management of policies, programs, and activities designed to meet business objectives and goals for managing workplace diversity and inclusion.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Formulate and advance a broader engagement strategy that continues to foster a culture of equity and inclusion across the company. Collaborate with other Business Unit Diversity and Inclusion team members where appropriate to execute enterprise D&I initiatives.
  • Develop and support deployment of a comprehensive D&I learning and development strategy. Elevate D&I services by identifying and administering impactful D&I trainings and resources.
  • Research and assess the impact of emerging issues and trends, legislation, court decisions, professional literature, and political and grass-roots movements related to diversity, equity & inclusion. Identify innovative approaches to diversity, equity, and inclusion and recommend D&I best practices.
  • Develop key performance indicators, develop, maintain, and report out on all D&I objectives.
  • Support development and implementation of the broader employee communications strategy to support the company’s business objectives and goals and ensure they are shared pervasively, not only for those opting in to join
  • Advance an inclusive culture by supporting a physiologically safe work environment and enabling difficult conversations/leading diversity dialogs that inform continuous improvement for D&I.
  • Work closely with departments and cross-functional partners (e.g. Staffing, Organization Effectiveness, etc.) to drive programming across our four strategic workstreams.
  • Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5%).

Qualifications

 

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree Business Administration, Organizational Psychology, Human Resources, STEM or related fields Required

Experience

  • 8 years of experience in Diversity & Inclusion, Human Resources, Business or related fields or equivalent training and/or experience Required
  • 2 years of experience planning, designing, and delivering programs and events related to diversity and inclusion issues in a complex environment. Broad understanding of a range of diversity-related topics and concerns affecting an organization. Required

Skills and Abilities

  • Skilled at producing executive level presentations. Advanced
  • Proficient at data analysis and converting to compelling information used to make business decisions. Advanced
  • Knowledge of Federal and State employment and anti-discrimination laws and regulations. Intermediate
  • Multi-directional communication and interpersonal skills required to interact with all segments of SDG&E employees from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and with diverse personalities; as well as with government representatives, advocacy, community, regulatory and political leaders and organizations. Intermediate
  • Ability to lead projects, work in a team environment, manage controversial and adversarial situations and effectively delegate and coordinate work. Intermediate
  • Ability to negotiate, persuade, and motivate on highly sensitive and abstract issues. Intermediate
  • Ability to assess, develop, and deliver workplace training for diversity and other workplace initiatives. Intermediate
  • Knowledge and interest in issues of global diversity and inclusiveness, anti-racism, equity, and cultural competence Intermediate
  • Operating with a global mindset with respect to issues of diversity and inclusiveness Intermediate
  • Ability to motivate and manage others to achieve ambitious and transformative results Intermediate

Licenses and Certifications

  • Human Resources or Diversity and Inclusion certification Preferred

  • Travel to various job SDG&E job sites
