Full-Time 11th Grade Program Manager
Job Description
With a portfolio of operational, strategic and student-facing responsibilities, the Program Manager role provides the opportunity to make an impact both organization-wide and in direct service.
The Program Manager is responsible for advising and managing a cohort of 60+ high school Scholars in their third year in the SEO Scholars program (11th grade summer through end of 11th grade spring). This includes (1) building and maintaining a culture of high achievement and a supportive, family-like community that ultimately drives student performance in high school, and (2) leading students through programming (including mentoring and advisory curriculum) that will directly contribute to superior high school performance, in preparation for successful admission to competitive four-year colleges and universities. It is our goal to send 100% of our high school graduates to competitive four-year colleges and universities for free.
● Implement SEO programming on Saturdays, aGer school and during Summer Academy for Scholars in their third year of the program. This includes designing and delivering Opening Circles and Program Manager Sessions, and delivering the 11th Grade Mentor and Advisory lessons
● Monitor grades in SEO Scholars classes, high school courses, dual enrollment courses, and standardized test scores; use data to drive advising discussions with Scholars
● Support in managing mentor program- recruit, select and pair volunteer mentors with 11th Grade Scholars
● Assist with the supervision and planning of college tours and trips
● Execute Enrichment Program related programming and ensure successful application cycle and strong Enrichment Program placement for all 11th graders
● Create and maintain strategic partnerships with Enrichment Program hosts and ensure successful Enrichment Program placement for all 11th grade Scholars
● Oversee the application process of SEO’s Professional Experience Internship program
● Manage concurrent enrollment partnership opportunities for cohort
● Create and nurture an environment that encourages intellectual curiosity, an inclusive, close-knit, and supportive community, and a college-going culture
● Provide data-driven academic advising and appropriate psychosocial guidance to all Scholars in cohort; monitor student attendance, participation, and performance at SEO and in high school; refer out to other agencies as necessary
● Serve as primary parent contact for 11th grade students in your cohort and their families; conduct individual and group parent meetings
● Data Management and Program Evaluation as related to 11th grade goals and outcomes
● Support with design and execution of additional programmatic opportunities
QUALIFICATIONS
● Experience college advising or teaching in a public/private high school for 3+ year preferred
● Strong work ethic
● Demonstrated passion for closing the achievement gap on the high school and college level for first-generation and low-income students
● Ability to guide students toward ambitious goals
● Highly adaptable and solutions-oriented with an ability to solve complex problems
● An uncompromising commitment to the highest quality work and exceptional results
● Strong communicator, including ability to effectively facilitate a classroom of Scholars
● Superior written communication, organizational and project management skills
● Highly resourceful, able to anticipate obstacles and change courses appropriately
● Experience in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
● Bachelor’s degree required
● Intermediate to advanced Excel skills and experience working with databases
● Ability to work a Tuesday through Saturday schedule and some nights as dictated by programming needs
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
● Spanish language proficiency and experience working with first-generation college-bound students a plus
● Experience with Salesforce
