Summary
Provides design engineering support for assigned product development projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following, other duties may be assigned
- Generates and refines design solutions to identified product requirements, formalize designs with the use of CAD tools.
- Creates complex models and drawings to established guidelines and standards.
- Ensures that products are designed to meet all performance specifications and regulatory requirements.
- Uses formal tools such as Six Sigma, DFMEa, PFMEA and FEA to anticipate and solve design and manufacturing problems and to optimize the design for cost and quality.
- Supports non-NPD initiatives including the resolution of quality issues and productivity initiatives.
- Performs basic IP searches.
- Provides design support across projects and product categories.
- Supports creation of needed prototypes and models to validate designs, hands on at times.
- Supports deployment of new products through manufacturing start.
- Creates and maintains specifications and project documentation as needed.
- Requisitions performance testing as needed.
Education and/or Experience
- Entry level position for qualified candidates with relevant CO-OP, intern or work experience.
- Degreed engineer, BSME,BSEE, BSIE preferred.
- Exposure to design/manufacturing of injection molding and or casting and or sheet metal fabrication is required.
