Job Description

IT SPECIALIST – AMHERST. BUFFALO

We are looking for a qualified IT Technician that will install and maintain computer systems aiming for the highest functionality. You will “train” users of the systems to make appropriate and safe usage of the IT infrastructure. A successful IT Technician must have a thorough knowledge of computer software and hardware and a variety of applications, networks and operating systems. The ideal candidate will have great troubleshooting abilities and attention to detail. The goal is to implement and maintain updated and efficient computer systems to optimize the role of technology within the business. Must have be well versed in a broad range of technologies and products.

Responsibilities:

  • Work within the companies’ helpdesk environment to support a diverse user base. Document, track and monitor issues to ensure accurate and timely resolution.
  • Set up workstations with computers and necessary peripheral devices (routers, printers etc.)
  • Install and configure appropriate software and functions according to company policy.
  • Ensure security and privacy of networks and computer systems.
  • Provide orientation and guidance to users on how to operate new software and computer equipment.
  • Be pro-active in identifying areas for concern and recommending effective and efficient solutions to reoccurring problems.
  • Perform troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve problems (repair or replace parts, debugging etc.)
  • Manage inventory and track corporate IT assets.
  • Identify computer or network equipment shortages and place orders

Skills

  • Proven experience in infrastructure and application support.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve all types of technical problems.
  • Knowledge of installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of computer operating systems including Windows 10, Windows Server 2012 up to 2019 and associated architecture/services (Inc. Active Directory, Group Policy, etc.).
  • Very good knowledge of Microsoft office 365 applications at administration level.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure cloud platform and services.
  • Expert knowledge of Networking, Firewalls, VPN’s, IP telephony, etc.
  • Strong understanding of IT security and compliance.
  • Computer hardware knowledge.
  • Experience supporting Microsoft Dynamics Navision is desirable.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and to communicate effectively, orally, and in writing with all levels of management and external.

  • Degree in Computer Science or relevant field
  • Certification as IT Technician will be an advantage (e.g. CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified IT Professional)
