Full-Time Software Developer – Full Stack

Job Description

Join Sparklight, a Cable One, Inc. (NYSE: CABO) brand, as our Senior Web Software Engineer. In this role you will work closely with stakeholders to design and implement solutions and enhancements to new and existing systems based on requirements created by internal business teams, including web applications, web services, windows services, and databases. This role also creates and maintains documentation and serves as a point of escalation for support.  Using an advanced knowledge base of common development tools and technologies, you will serve as a mentor for junior team members through code reviews and training.

What this position does to contribute to the Company’s success:

  • Uses advanced knowledge to implement software as it relates to active Cable One projects, including web applications, web services, windows services, and databases.
  • Documents technical designs that are used by internal teams for application support and maintenance.
  • Leads internal projects to continuously improve usability, reliability, security, and performance of our websites, handling multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Works to fulfill business requirements using software development methodologies.
  • Develops complex code and applications to support Cable One initiatives.
  • Works as part of a project team to coordinate software environments and determine project scope and limitations.
  • Works closely with executives, stakeholders, and designers to implement functional, intuitive, modern, and an aesthetically pleasing user experience for public-facing and internal websites.
  • Provides support and general maintenance of third party applications including communications with vendors.
  • Maintains, examines, evaluates, and troubleshoots applications, reports, web services and database logic (both custom and 3rd party systems).
  • Analyzes project requests to estimate time and cost required to accomplish project.
  • Helps develop team standards and seeks out opportunities to continuously improve processes.
  • Stays current on emerging web technologies and trends in order to advise the business on recommendations for strategic direction changes.
  • Performs code reviews for development. Reviews the quality of work and mentors junior team members.
  • Performs on-call duties to troubleshoot technical issues and points of integration.
  • This position has the expectation and responsibility to take on other duties needed to help drive our Purpose, fulfill our Brand Principles, and abide by our Organization’s Values.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university; and five to ten years related experience and/or training in application development programming languages such as .NET or Java; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven demonstration of ability to satisfactorily complete the functions of the Web Software Engineer I and II positions required.
  • Advanced certification in object-oriented programming languages such as .Net is required.
  • Ability to work on-call on a 24/7 basis and to be available to work beyond the scheduled shift as needed.
  • Knowledge of Software Development Lifecycle is required.
  • Knowledge of the following technologies is required: NET (C#), HTML, CSS, JavaScript (including JavaScript frameworks), RESTful Web Services, and APIs, social media APIs, SQL, Web services, and XML serialization.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of professionalism with a customer-centric mindset.
  • Must be a self-starter with sound problem-solving and excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Must be a team player.
  • General knowledge of the following concepts and industry standards is preferred: object-oriented programming, design patterns, N-Tier apps, SDLC methodologies, and WC3 standards.
  • Knowledge of PCI compliance and MVC architecture preferred.
  • Familiarity with the following toolsets preferred: Visual Studio and Azure DevOps, and Sitecore.
