Kessel Run’s Test Practice Lead is responsible for building and growing a self-sustaining user-centered and lean test design and practice. This is a full-time, dedicated role – i.e., the Test PL is not part of any specific product team but instead reports to the Det Test Chief as part of the Technology Group.

What You Will Do

  • Actively identify, prioritize, and solve problems that impact Detachment test design using a variety of critical thinking approaches, including Premortem Analysis & Stakeholder Mapping
  • Facilitate a user-centered approach to building product line and portfolio objectives and key results (OKRs) in a way that actively challenges biases, errors in cognition, and groupthink
  • Guide portfolios in formulating their high-level mission areas and associated objectives, requirements and desired operational capabilities
  • Build unity and consistency between Portfolio Leads, Technical & Engineering Leads, Design Leads, and Practice Leads across the Det, specifically in how they build and track their objectives
  • Model and advocate for feedback culture, including but not limited to gathering, synthesizing, and presenting feedback to portfolio leadership
  • Build continuous, meaningful and unbiased feedback into product design & development
  • Understand product line and portfolio health, identify feedback-loop blockers, prioritize, and remove them; sit in on Product Line Reviews, Technology Review Boards, Growth Boards, etc. to help gain that understanding.
  • Iterate our Test Design practices to meet the Det’s evolving needs
  • Advocate for our Test Design practices within Kessel Run, within the Air Force, and outside of the Air Force
  • Facilitate key cross-org communication to enhance Det cross-talk and collaboration

Who You Are

  • You are a divergent thought leader with a proven track record of analyzing and solving complicated problems and working on fast-paced, highly-collaborative & diverse teams
  • You have experience facilitating critical thinking exercises for large & small groups in order to support high-impact decisions by approaching problems from all angles and getting a holistic view of solutions
  • You can expertly explore alternatives in plans, operations, concepts, organizations, and capabilities in the context of the operational environment and from the perspectives of partners, adversaries, and others
  • You believe in fostering empathy, self-awareness, self-reflection & psychological safety
  • You have top-quality written and verbal communication skills (e.g., capable of public speaking, changing your messaging based on the audience, etc.)
  • You are comfortable providing advice, recommendations, and guidance with incomplete information
  • Management experience a plus, but not required
  • You are a U.S. Citizen and have the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance
