Full-Time Associate Director of Intercultural Affairs and the LGBTQ+ Resource Centers

The Associate Director is responsible for coordinating the design, implementation, and assessment of programs initiated by the Intercultural Affairs and the LGBTQ Resource Centers, as well as supporting the Cultural, Social Justice and Global Awareness student organizations’ programs and initiatives, in order to assist HWS’ goal to foster and sustain a campus environment that is inclusive, pluralistic, and diverse, through the Colleges’ establishment and implementation of policies that focus on equity, cross-cultural communication, culture, and other domestic and global diversity issues.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Associate Director’s responsibilities include, but are not limited the following duties:

  • Assist in the development of an annual calendar of events, workshops, and training.
  • Advise, counsel, support and provide leadership to members of student groups connected to both centers.
  • Serve on designated campus and community committees and boards.
  • Assist in establishing new community partnerships that focus on diverse and underserved populations.
  • Support the creation and dissemination of publicity and pertinent publications for Intercultural Affairs and the LGBTQ+ Resource Center programs and events.
  • Ensure that planning and implementation of programs and initiatives are guided by the Intercultural Affairs and LGBTQ+ Resource Centers’ missions. 
  • Prepare and distribute the Intercultural Affairs’ and LGBTQ+ Resource Center’s newsletters and other pertinent publications
  • Produce annual assessment reports for both centers.
  • Assist in the training and assessment of undergraduate student staff in Intercultural Affairs and LGBTQ+ Resource Centers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of the Intercultural Affairs Center.

Master’s degree preferred and a minimum of three years of experience in the areas of student life, multicultural programs and/or advising or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.  An understanding of the personal, academic and social needs of students from historically underrepresented groups in a liberal arts setting is essential. Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills and an ability to manage multiple priorities are necessary. Excellent oral, interpersonal, and written communication skills are needed for this position, as well as strong project management and leadership skills; the successful candidate must be able to work collaboratively and effectively with students, faculty and staff.  Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate a commitment to student development, experience working with diverse constituents and the ability to balance students’ needs with institutional goals.  Must be flexible and able to work evening and weekend hours.

This is a full-time, 12 month salaried/exempt position. This position description is not all-inclusive, as other tasks or responsibilities may be assigned.
