Full-Time Sales Representative, Inside Sales

Department: Sales
Reporting To: Sales Director, Fields and National Accounts
Status: Regular Full Time
Location: 22 Adelaide Street West, Toronto (currently working remotely but will need to commute to the office when it reopens)

Job Summary:
Sales responsibilities and management for Independent Bookstores and nontraditional shops (gift, museum, etc.) across Canada selling titles from Harper Canada, Harper US, Harper UK, HCCP, Harlequin and Usborne.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Selling activities and support of all HCC products to independent booksellers and other small and independent retailers. Present front-list sales cycles of products in addition to maintaining and growing our backlist titles via Edelweiss presentations and our frontlist order/ booking procedures
• Utilization of product lists and product category ranking reports for backlist awareness and re-ordering
• Provide responses and resolutions for retailer issues and concerns stemming from order placement through to delivery within a reasonable timeframe
• In-store assistance of HCC titles involving placement and monitoring of sell-through of key-sellers and re-order processes
• Set-up and oversee the completion of our credit application and discount policies for new HCC accounts
• Assist retailers in their marketing initiatives, profiling key titles and best-sellers through our approved marketing-based promotions
• Provide event assistance through book table strategies, assisting with returns processing as needed.
• Solicit and process author orders as needed
• Attend and assist in setup of the CGTA gift show held twice annually
• Solicit new business from non-traditional accounts throughout the country

Qualifications:
Specific training or job experience required includes:
• Post-Secondary Education – specializing in marketing, communications, or business management.
• 1 – 2 years or relevant sales experience
• Awareness of retail-store operations / knowledge of current issues and concerns facing storeowners
• Proficient Computer Skills / skilled knowledge of spreadsheets / ability to navigate through Industry-oriented sites designed for booksellers
• Knowledge of social media strategies and initiatives pertaining to the publishing industry
• Good interpersonal communication skills / outgoing and assertive personality is a great asset
• Ability to be accountable to the needs of the customer
