POSITION TITLE: Assistant Education Director (Region)

REPORTS TO: Education Director

SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Supervise the work of contractor, per-diem trainers, and interns or volunteers as assigned.  

LOCATION: Chicago, IL

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The Assistant Education Director will support the expansion of ADL’s No Place for Hate® education program.  The Assistant Education Director will also coordinate and deliver virtual and in-person training programs and design educational anti-bias initiatives and programs tailored to regional communities through ADL’s A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE® Institute.  As part of the Midwest Education team, the Assistant Education Director will assist in the development and execution of a marketing program to raise the profile of ADL education trainings and resources, including the possible coordination of regional or statewide programs to engage and introduce educators to ADL education programs.

Responsibilities

Primary

  • Assist with outreach and engagement strategy to introduce K-12 educational institutions and decision-makers to ADL’s No Place for Hate (R) education program and help secure their participation in the program.
  • Market, coordinate and support anti-bias programs and initiatives for regional educational institutions and other organizations through ADL’s A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE Institute.
  • Provide ongoing consultation and support to schools and community organizations responding to incidents of antisemitism, hate and bias and working to create inclusive cultures.
  • Conduct in-person and virtual education and training sessions and workshops as needed.
  • Complete necessary administrative tasks, including education database entry, expense tracking, document preparation and review, and required record-keeping.
  • Coordinate virtual and in-person programs to convene educators, introduce them to ADL education and training programs and position the organization and staff as thought leaders.

 

Secondary

  • Work with regional staff to respond to discrimination complaints, antisemitic incidents and other civil rights issues that arise in educational settings.
  • Support fundraising events as needed and work across departments and regions

Qualifications

Skills:

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and presentation skills and comfort with public speaking.
  • Experience marketing programs, recruiting clients, and managing client relationships.
  • Strong facilitation skills and ability to work with virtual events training or programming.
  • Digital and social media literacy.
  • Familiarity with U.S. educational systems and structures.
  • Strong understanding of anti-bias, diversity, equity, and inclusion issues.
  • Computer skills, including word processing, presentation software, and database management.
  • Bilingual or multilingual language skills a plus.

 

Work Experience:

  • 2-3 years of program coordination or management in an education setting (such as sales, program delivery or training).
  • (Not required, but preferred) Relevant experience working in the one or more of the states included in the ADL Midwest region.

 

Education:

  • Training or bachelor’s degreein education, nonprofit management or equivalent work/education experience.

 

Work Environment: 

Flexibility to work evenings and weekends when necessary to represent ADL, conduct training sessions and attend community events.  Some travel within the region is required once a COVID-related travel ban is lifted.
