Position Purpose
Under the direction of the Director of Upward Bound – Shelton, this position is responsible for advising a caseload of 12th grade participants. This position promotes high school academic achievement and post-secondary success for program participants and coordinates services to ensure all Upward Bound seniors transition smoothly into post-secondary education each fall. Responsibilities include ensuring all programs’ 12th graders are prepared for the transition into higher education, monitoring and tracking participants’ needs, creating individual action plans and monitoring academic progress of students, collecting college enrollment and high school graduation documentation from all seniors, including FAFSA confirmation, SAT/ACT scores, college application documentation, enrollment documentation, transcripts, etc., and developing and facilitating academic, career, financial literacy, and college workshops/virtual college tours (to take place online until further notice). These responsibilities require strong organizational abilities, as well as coordination with other programs and offices, outreach to colleges/universities, community-based organizations, social service agencies, and other Evergreen programs and offices. The position typically requires commuting between work sites, including Evergreen, Shelton High School, and agencies and cultural events; the position will provide services to students online as needed.
This is a full-time, overtime-exempt Project position with The Evergreen State College. This is a cyclic, federally funded grant position, scheduled to work from September through July with August off each year (benefits paid year round). The position is grant funded through July 31, 2022. This position is exempt from state Civil Service rules and the Fair Labor Standards Act overtime requirements.
Salary and Benefits: $3,589 per month of full-time work + excellent benefits including paid sick and vacation leave; paid campus holidays; a generous medical, dental, life, and disability insurance package; and a tuition waiver program.
