Full-Time Principal Scientist – Medicinal Chemistry
Job Description
We are seeking a talented Principal Scientist – Medicinal Chemistry to join the small molecule medicinal chemistry group located in Cambridge, MA and participate with our multi-disciplinary teams to integrate biological, DMPK and formulation data to accelerate multi-parameter optimization to deliver clinical candidates.
Major Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
- Conceiving and executing medicinal chemistry initiatives across multiple project phases including hit generation, lead identification and optimization, and ADMET property optimization, all within the context of a target pharmaceutical product profile
- Analysis of complex data sets and creation of design hypotheses
- Outstanding leadership, interpersonal, communication, and time-management skills are essential
- Work with multidisciplinary preclinical development teams to enable the transition from hit to lead candidate as well as final nomination of a clinical candidate
Education and Qualification:
- MS or PhD in synthetic organic or medicinal chemistry
- Minimum 7 years of industrial experience in drug discovery and development
Preferred:
- Previous experience of medicinal chemistry or project leadership preferred
- Strong written and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to communicate effectively and work in a team-based environment
- Ability to co-ordinate efforts with CROs as well as internal multi-disciplinary teams
- Demonstrated creativity, inventiveness and innovation in solving problems related to potency, safety and druggability of candidate molecules.
- Ability to define practical solutions to make go/no-go decisions and effectively communicate program progress within chemistry as well as at larger project team meetings.
- Experience with structure-based drug design
