Full-Time Prevention Coordinator
Job Description
Sexual Violence Response, a unit of Columbia Health, strives to prevent and respond to sexual, intimate partner and gender-based violence at Columbia University. SVR provides advocacy, connection to resources, community education, training, and engagement to the Columbia campus community.
SVR is a dynamic and diverse team that works to end violence through a social-justice, anti-racist perspective. We are currently accepting applications for a Prevention Coordinator to join our team.
- Coordinate, develop, implement, and evaluate sexual, gender-based, intimate partner violence, sexual, and street harassment primary prevention training and educational activities
- Participate in the development of strategic plans, goals and measurable objectives for violence prevention programs and services.
- Work with colleagues and University partners to plan, implement and evaluate theory and evidenced informed prevention strategies
- Promote community standards for a respective and safe campus.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in experience and three years’ experience required
- Experience in sexual violence education, prevention and risk strategies, health education, counseling or related field.
- Prior experience developing and implementing violence prevention and education programs targeting young adults, and engaging men as bystanders and allies.
- Experience working with survivors.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion and work effectively with students, faculty, and administrative constituencies.
- Must demonstrate excellent written and communication skills including one-on-one sessions; small and large group presentations, workshops, and trainings.
- Ability to manage time efficiently and prioritize tasks.
- Proven ability to work in multi-racial environment, and commitment to social justice practice.
