MoveOn is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive intern to support our Finance and Operations Team. This role provides hands-on experience in multiple realms of work within the team, including budgeting, contracts administration, record-keeping, and business compliance.

The intern will have the opportunity to work closely with each member of the Finance and Operations Team, and to gain exposure into a variety of different tasks and projects. The intern will have the opportunity to identify and suggest improvements to current processes and to help implement effective changes to our work. This position will play a role in supporting MoveOn’s compliance with internal policies as well as state and federal laws and regulations.

At the end of the internship, we expect the intern to have gained a foundational understanding of business and finance processes that support a national, multi-entity, progressive organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining organizational recordkeeping systems
  • Processing contracts.
  • Supporting invoice processing and payments.
  • Following up with staff to ensure administrative tasks are completed on time.
  • Reviewing company credit card expenses.
  • Identifying and suggesting improvements to streamline current processes.
  • Assisting with budgeting tasks and processes.
  • Assisting with campaign finance and lobbying reporting.
  • Assisting with managing staff access and accounts for digital tools.
  • Supporting other administrative and operational tasks as needed.

Required skills and experience:

  • Prior demonstrated interest in finance, operations, and business compliance
  • Comfort working in a fully remote environment
  • Familiarity with Google suite of products, including docs, sheets, drive, etc.
  • High level of adeptness  and confidentiality with sensitive data and information
  • Demonstrated commitment to furthering social justice

Reports to: Director of Finance and Operations

Location: Position may be based anywhere in the continental United States.

Classification, Salary, and Benefits: Part-time (up to 15 hours per week), $25 per hour, and $175 monthly toward the cost of cell phone, internet, and office expenses; home office subsidy also provided.
