SALARY: $36,682 – $50,438
The Challenge
Looking to launch your professional career?  Join the NCDMV Motor Vehicle Professionals (MVP) program. MVP is an 18-month program to help you become a business leader.  We are looking for talent with a passion for transportation, public service, and the leadership to explore and make an impact at NCDMV.
You will be a key player working on mission-critical projects/programs and gaining experience in our industry-leading initiatives, operations, and management on our  Driver Services and Central Issuance team.
You will have the opportunity to explore leadership opportunities and projects in several NCDMV units, including Business Services, the Commissioner’s Office, Customer Compliance, Driver Services, License and Theft, Training and Development, Safety, and Vehicle Services. We are looking for highly motivated emerging professionals skilled in business, public service, public relations, and administrative leadership.
In this role, you will learn to:
    • Issue License renewals, and duplicate license/ID cards to customers requesting endorsements and address changes by mail to residents who are temporarily residing outside of North Carolina
    • Review and evaluate driver license convictions and suspensions to determine if a customer is eligible to make an application for driver license, learner permit, or level 3 license by mail.
    • Respond to customer inquiries by phone and service account and process returned mail while updating customer records according to the returned mail guidelines
    • Update, evaluate, and research documents, citations, Motor Vehicle Records (MVRs), and court transactions to maintain the accuracy and consistency of individual driving records (in-state and out-of-state).
    • Key and scan information related to a customer’s driving record.
    • Process mail and emails for CDL medical certification certificates, self-cert forms and federal variances
    • Provide excellent customer service by email and telephone.
    • Process affidavits and refusals, failures to comply/appear/pay out-of-state citations, military/Federal citations/DWIs, returned/surrendered licenses (in- and out-of-state), felony revocations, withdrawals, negates and juvenile orders.
    • Interact with out-of-state court systems and other state DMV offices about customer records.
What You Bring
    • Customer service experience by phone or in person with diverse clientele.
    • Experience analyzing, interpreting, and/or evaluating information or data.
    • Experience researching and resolving problems making independent decisions.
    • Experience interpreting and explaining policy and procedures, rules, regulation, or laws using excellent communication skills.
    • Experience maintaining records, reports, and data using Microsoft Office or databases.
    • Ability to type 45+ words per minute.
Education & Experience
    • High school/GED diploma, and
    • 2+ years of related administrative experience; or
    • An equivalent combination of education and experience.
