What We Can Achieve Together:

The Land Protection Specialist provides primary support for advancing land protection projects and strategies for the NH Chapter and provides general administrative support for the NH Conservation Team. A core function of this role is to provide technical and project management expertise in complying with legal requirements and internal policies for TNC real estate interests (including fee-owned properties, conservation easements, and partner assists). The Land Protection Specialist works with the Land Protection Lead to serve as the front line of response to land protection inquiries, and they provide basic portfolio management and reporting support for the Conservation Team. The Land Protection Specialist is a member of the NH Conservation Team and is supervised by the Land Protection Lead.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Provide real estate and project management assistance to the Land Protection Lead, including:
    • Screening potential projects using GIS.
    • Communicating with property owners and partnering organizations.
    • Tracking and recording project progress.
    • Developing and managing contracts for due diligence.
    • Preparing project packages.
    • Ensuring program compliance with internal policies and external requirements.
  • Develop and manage portfolio tracking across the Conservation Team to support measuring and reporting on overall conservation progress towards specific goals.
  • Track public funding opportunities and coordinate grant proposals and grant administration across the Conservation Team.
  • Financial responsibility may include working within a budget to complete projects, negotiating and contracting with vendors, assisting with budget development.
  • Support the Director of Conservation with agenda development/issue tracking, note-taking, and coordination of NH Conservation Team and Trustee Conservation Committee meetings.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 3 years’ experience in real estate transactions, paralegal work, natural resource management, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience building relationships and communicating with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Project management experience.
  • Experience staying organized and driven while working independently.
  • Experience using common software applications such as Word, Excel, web browsers, ARC GIS etc.
  • Must have valid driver’s license and ability to travel regularly within NH and regionally, as needed.

Additional Job Information:

The New Hampshire Chapter believes in flexibility and as such, team members are working in a hybrid model. This position is full time and has the option of working remotely or from our TNC offices in New Hampshire: Concord, Newmarket, or North Conway, with the expectation of in-person workdays and meetings on a regular basis.

Salary Information:

The starting pay range for a candidate selected for this position is generally within the range of $60,000 – $63,400 for annual base salary. This range only applies to candidates whose country of employment is the USA. Where a successful candidate’s actual pay will fall within this range will be based on a variety of factors, including, for example, the candidate’s location, qualifications, specific skills, and experience. Please note countries outside the USA would have a different pay range in the local currency based on the local labor market, and not tied to USA pay or ranges. Your geographic location will be confirmed during the recruitment.
